People from different countries/areas are perceived to have certain characteristics. For instance, Scots are known to be honest but stingy, French are romantic but snooty, Thais are friendly but can be too laid back etc. (Key word: "perceived"! Please don't take it too seriously! It's not meant to be a racist question!) What about Singaporeans? Do they have a "national character"?

Im not a singaporean so i maybe a little biased here. I've stayed in Singapore for the last 4-5 years, I'll try my best.
Singaporeans are generally:
hardworking
a little calculative but smart
modernized
relatively "kiasu"
appreciative of others' cultures
technically and scientifically adept
artistically handicapped
having strong family ties
not too good in hospitality and service
loving of good food
a little too impatient (especially the later generations)
astriving and devoted to work
relatively more money-minded
staunch and morally restrictive
politically constrained
fashion victims
unoriginal
technologically savvy
non-malicious
understanding
balanced and disciplined
healthy
travel freaks
yea, sorry. Perceived, you say. Though i must emphasize "general" in my generalizations. Of course there are exceptions.

The evidence reveals that this is a country where the people are suppressed to a degree.
The Government has made it known that extremism originating from RELIGION or RACE has no place in Singapore and it will not hesitate to take action against any extremist or terrorist groups or individuals.
In addition, Singapore has one of the lowest crime rates around the world. So the character of the people is likely to be law-abiding due to well-justified fear of punishment from authorities
