1 cubic meter of crushed asphalt is 720.8 kilograms...*
1 kilogram is 2.20462 pounds...1 ton (short) is 2000 pounds...1 ton (long) is 2240 pounds. *
1 cubic meter of asphalt is 1589.09 pounds or 0.794545 tons (short) or 0.709415 tons (long) or 0.7208 metric tons (tonnes). **
"Both long and short tons are defined as 20 hundredweights, but a hundredweight is 112 pounds (which is equal to 8 stone) in the Imperial system (long or gross hundredweight) and 100 pounds in the US system (short or net hundredweight)." ***

Dave F E , I do not know where you got your information from but please check it again. 1 cu yd of concrete DOES NOT weigh in at 4 ton. That is 8'000 lbs my friend. Even if you calculate it out 94*27 it comes to 2'538lbs a cu yd. just 1 1/4 tons not 8'000 lbs or 4 ton. Okay onto better things. As far as 1 cu. m Asphalt=....tons? Well there is a lot to consider. I would say generally 1.125 tons/cu meter. There really is a lot to consider as far as densities. Type of Asphalt used, ( Asphalt is actually the cement that holds it together ), The types and percentages of aggregates and VMAs, ( air voids ). The Asphalts vary, ex. RC-0 is 7.8 lbs/gal and 256 gal/ton, so this weight in at less than water. On the AC end, Ac's like AC40-50 weigh in at 8.6 lbs/gal and 233 gal/ton. This is all based at 60 degree F. Given the almost countless mix designs, and variables, you will find my answer in the general ballpark.

Do you know the density of asphalt. The density should be given as mass/volume such as Kg/cubic metre (this is the base SI unit, but it could be some other unit like grams/ cubic centimetre. Just convert the units to mass/ cubic metre. I'm sorry after a quick search I could not find the density of asphalt but a more complete might yeild results

Concrete weighs about four tons per cubic yard.
The 54th edition of Handbook Chemistry and Physics CRC, lists on page F-1----69 to 94 pounds per cubic foot.
Figure 3.3 lineal feet per meter>>>37 cu ft per cu meter
Oh, you do the math....
The variation in density I suppose is a function of proportion and nature of the stone used in the mix.
