That's probably a question nearly impossible to answer. In the heat of the moment, people often seem to forget what part of their body is their heart.

Others seem to have a way of deceiving themselves, rationalizing the moment or simply not understanding what love really means. They may swear they were following their heart, but haven't a clue.

What does that really mean anyway? Choosing the hunk over the bookworm, even though you see more mutual qualities in the bookworm? Speaking up and telling someone what you really feel? Taking the chance?

i think most people follow what they want to follow. it's a judgement call whether it's their heart or not. e.g. a guy who cheats on his wife. some would say he's following his dick, not his heart. but clearly his heart is not in the marriage. otherwise, why would he cheat. he may say it's just sex and still he loves no one other than his wife. but is that love? it's not in my book.

i think the question is whether people show thru their actions what is in their hearts or if they can act irregardless of what is in their heart. action vs. heart's intention.

for some, heart, mind, body, soul all are on the same page. for others, heart is separate. i don't understand those people and never will.

If you want a numerical figure...it's not possible to give it. However those people who follow their heart all the time are usually easier to be hurt.
But as the saying goes..."it's the heart, and it doesn't obey."

No use asking a man on this site. Men follow their *****. Women seem to follow their heart more.

I followed my heart once, and what it got me was 25 years of pain, and another 12 of mistrust, since then.....enough already! Now, I follow my head.

i think for the best result...you need to use both! no point doing something you brain tells you that you dont feel right in your heart and no point following you heart when your brain tells you, that you are screwed later.

I used to all the time, but for some reason it kept getting broken. So now I keep it tucked safely away under my sons pillow and every morning it is as good as new.

I usually do, and if I don't I at least try to listen to my heart and work things out!
