But have you noticed that in films, the villainous/ crooks/bad guy characters always has to be smoking? i mean, what's with the typecast??!

supposed to be smoulderingly sexy too...bad boy image...doesnt giva a damn about black lungs..im babbling now.;p

Yes, the bad guys do smoke a lot in movies and TV shows, especially the 'Cancer Man' character of the 'X-Files' series who is a evil guy.
Also the typecast for villainous characters include:
1) Anger and yelling loud
2) beating up and doing worse things to innocent people
3) drinking heavily and/or drug use
Doesn't take us long to figure out who the bad characters are, including Darth Vader who's wearing that dark costume.

LOL!!! Now that you say it, I think your right. Of course it's not the case for all moveies, but yeah I can see the truth behind this.

thats becoz the directors want to have reallity if the villans doesn't smoke or drink then he doesn't look like a villan

Not always, but often yeah! I think they're either trying to say that smoking is bad - because bad guys smoke, or wanna make the bad guys as if they think that smoking makes you "cool"... dunno exactly...
