We live in a hot country and have had air conditioning put into our bedrooms and lounge. We are constantly being told it is bad for you, to use it, but, as the weather in my town often gets into the 50's c, plus a relatively high humidity, we need something to keep us cool. We are worried that if we use it in our grandchild's room, it will cause health problems for her.

There is nothing wrong with using air conditioning around children. If it is a window unit, insure that it is tilted slightly to the outside of the house so that it drains properly or mold may grow in it. Mold is bad so you want to prevent it.

It´s safe as long as you have a NEW machine and you change the filter (pls buy one with filter) every 6 months max.
Also get a air purifier that kill acarus ....
And watch out for fast temp changing...the term shock is the worst on a child.
Also check the humidity....some AC drys the place, so u may keep a water recipient near the child's bed.

from my adventure i'd say AC is fantastic for newborns yet you won't be able to have it at 60 degrees, save it contained in the mid to higher 70's, and save the toddler faraway from the air straight away, because the toddler is a new child so their immune equipment isn't sturdy adequate to keep up chilly AC, they could somewhat seize a chilly or perhaps pneumonia, yet i imagine a ceiling fan is fantastic, i see no damage being finished pretty if its above 80 degrees. yet once you've any second ideas or undesirable feeling i'd say merely seek for suggestion from a second specialist opinion. oh, and if its very warm, you do not want you toddler to struggle through from warmth exhaustion, so at employ a ceiling fan. desire this helps

no, on the contrary, it probably is good, because the air has to go through a filter before it comes into the room. However, babies tend to not have good body temperature regulation, so make sure it doesn't get too cold, or else she could become sick.

Just make sure it is cleaned on a regular basis, to prevent mold growth. Also check for mold growth in the room on a weekly basis.
Overheating is VERY harmful to babies, they get sick more often.

I have always used one in my daughters room. She is 2. She has never had any health problems. Infact, if anything, she sleeps better when it is on.
