....but my system says its still running sp1. any ideas

When in doubt, BACKUP and RE-INSTALL everything!

Hard disks are cheap these days.

it could be that you installed some of the components of sp2 separately.

I think there is a way to download sp2 and install it without the windows update. That should overwrite any sp1 stuff on there.

You can go to www.support.microsoft.com and download the SP2. If you already have it on your computer you will receive a notice that it's already installed.

If you don't have it, the download will continue. It's a huge download so be prepared to wait several hours for it to complete.

If you have only portions of SP2 on your computer, the download will install the portions you don't have, overwrite the parts you do have, or repair any parts that aren't complete.

I extremely have a duplicate of abode homestead windows XP expert with SP2 shelter. when I set up XP the very next element I do is desperate up SP3 which I extremely have on a memory stick. i assume you will get XP with SP3 shelter, basically below no circumstances seen it. Atfer I set up sp3 i flow to Microsoft abode homestead windows replace and to a minimum of something of the updates, there are over one hundred of them for XP.

Look in your Add/Remove Programs. If it is not there, then you would have downloaded it but not updated the system. You need to run the download.

Install XP SP-2 manually urself and then run update.

or just check it by going thru:

Right click on my computer-> properties.
on the general tab u can c the actual position.

Why don't you just re-download and install it. Unless you have the disc with it already on then i suggest you re-install it.

just do windows update see what happens. if that doesn't work reinstall windows. make sure you back up all files
