My brother left home 18 years ago and I know My brother was on the Dunany and was based in Ireland. The Dunany no longer exists. My mum is vey ill and I would love to get in touch with him before she dies. I have tried FR, Genes Reunited and the Salvation Army. Any advice?

If he was in the merchant navy, try calling NUMAST, the trade union for British merchant navy officers. I used to work there and know they have a huge database of over 25,000 members, so he may well be on their records. Another thing they run on their website is "shipmates reunited" - a MN-specific variation of FR and Genes United.

Good luck, and my best wishes for peace and comfrot for your mum.

The NUMAST office number is 020 8989 6677.

Contact the Merchant Navy Recruitment. They may have a forwarding address. otherwise put an ad in one of the papers. Or contact the Radio Staions Radio 1 or Radio 2 ask them to put an appeal out.

I've found this site

try it and see, there is also the Merchant Navy Association, they might be able to help. I hope you find him in time, who knows he might read this post!

Good luck to you!
