Yes, what you have done so far is absolutely the best way to raise a stable, protective dog. Good job! She won't really be too tough or protective until she's at least 18 months old - up until then, she's like a little kid. Most dogs never get to bite a burglar - most bites occur to your own family or visiting friends.

You should also get an alarm system connected to a central station that will call the cops - a dog alone is not enough to protect your valuable property. A dog can be tricked into a closed off area, or poisoned or shot or even stolen by someone who really wants your stuff.

I'd recommend that you don't try to attack or guard train your dog - even with professional help. If you have trained your personal dog to bite, you have an enormous liability on your hands. A bite from a trained dog inflicts much greater damage, since their inhibition against biting people has been removed. If he bites your neighbor's kid or the mailman, you can be held legally and financially responsible. You may lose your right to homeowner's insurance. You can even go to prison, like the couple in California whose dogs mauled and killed a woman in the hallway of their apartment building.

Your dog is too young to show protection. If you want a real guard dog you should have a trained one. I do believe you have to handle them differently. I have two pitbulls and a cocker spaniel. My pits are 2 & 1 and the cocker is 2. None of my dogs show any protection yet. They do bark when people approach the house (or walk by) but they will let anyone into the house. If you want to try and use the dog you have, you will need to have a professional trainer. Sometimes, just having the dog and signs will do the trick. Have you though of an alarm system? They do the trick.

At this young of an age your dog will not be showing any type of aggression yet she is still a baby.
And will be until she is almost 2 years old.
If you are expecting this dog to attack you will need to train her to do so. Gaurd dogs require much training and working to get the proper behavior out of them. It takes time and a proffesional trainer to be able to call the back from an attack.
This is not what you want in your home they are not suited for family life and should NEVER be around anyone but the handler.
Gaurd dogs are a working dog not a family pet.

rotties are very intelligent. You SHOULD socialize her with as many people as possible, outside of your home or yard. when you are home, and someone approaches, let your dog know from your own reactions who is welcome and who is not. If you don't she may become agressive to other dogs and people for no reason. A rottie is a powerful animal and if it is not socialized it develops mental issues that lead it to become unstable. If the dog were to escape or get out of your control it may attack and possibly kill someone for no reason, or God forbid it may attack a family member. This will be a worse liability than theft. Your best bet is to socialize the dog with other dogs and their owners. This will give you and the dog a chance to bond and the dog will also learn that it can trust you. THAT IS VERY IMPORTANT. If you have a fenced in yard let the dog roam untethered. All rotties and I mean ALL rotties and almost ALL dogs have a natural instinct to mark their territory and guard it. Rotties which i researched thoroughly because i used to have one, are especcially possesive of their owners things and family. You don't need to train her, you actually have to contain her. Rotties are people focused, they watch you, carefully. If she feels that someone is un-invited and she has had enough time to bond with you, TRUST me she will be very protective.
Hope it works out well. Please Please be responsible and don't let your dog become anti social. It will end very badly.

Not all Rotties are mean and aggressive. She may never materialize to be what you wanted. I would have suggested a male Rottie. Males inherently are more aggressive.

You don't want her to show agression, you just want her to love you and your family and be devoted to you. She will not be friendly to anyone she senses is your enemy!
