I agree with everybody else that you should take snotty kitten to the vet. He is probably due for booster shots anyway. Do not give him any people medication. Aspirin can kill a cat. A dose of something that would be OK for a human baby would be many times too strong for a kitten. Cats metabolize many medicines differently than people or dogs do. So if somebody tries to give you something that worked for Fido, tell them no thanks.
This is why vets go to school for 3 years after studing basic science in college. To learn all this stuff.
While you are there ask the vet to recomend a good home health care handbook for you. I have the Cornell Book of Cats but that is expensive.
Kitty may be given an antibiotic. Good Luck getting it down him.

Upper respiratory infections can go away by themselves in adult cats, but kitten are at a much higher risk. Any time a cat has a discharge (runny nose), it's not a good sign. Kittens are much more fragile in health than adult cats. Your kitten needs some antibiotics from the vet.

There's no over the counter medication that you can give your kitten. You really need to see a qualified vet. Some antibiotics that can be given to full grown cats cannot be given to a kitten that's 3 mos. old. Also, this can be feline leukemia or a number of other things. Better to be on the safe side and get it examined.
