he felt safer with some cloth between him and george
can u not remember the programme when zippy asked bungle that very question

Neither did Zippy and George come to that. I saw Zippy only yesterday, strapped to a ladder on top of a van, as naked as the day he was born, so he's still at it. Anyway back to the question, it was all do to with his fur sticks to the blankets like Velcro. It would take Rod, Jane and Freddy to prize him from the sheets first thing in the morning if he went to bed naked. You could hear the howls for miles around. Good question. Hope that resolves the issue for you.

He was an old pervert. He walked around naked in the day because no-one stopped him because he was a bear. He wore Pj's to bed so he could strip-tease them off in front of Zippy and George.
