No. When you loose one organ of a pair, the remaining organ will take over the function of two. My dad lost a kidney to disease and he never gained weight from it. He lived to be 78 and lost this kidney at 40. I wouldn't worry about it.

The main function of the kidney is not related to conversion of carbohydrates into fat. It's about detoxication/excretion.

obviously no. because our body function are carried out by only one kidney. other kidney is like an extra man in cricket who replaces cthe player if his injured. but defected kidney should be removed if not then its effect can be addverse
