read many many books. Start out with easy one and then gradually pick harder ones. That's what I did as a kid to get smarter. Find something you like and it can get addicting after awhile. Communication skills get better the more you use them. When you read more you develop an advanced vocabulary, then you just need to learn how to use it by talking more often. My family talks a lot, so naturally I talk a lot, and thus I can communicate very effectively. You just have to get out there and do it, the more the better.
