I've been down this road before.. it was painful. I liked this guy for years.. and lots of other girls liked him too. I did.. a really stupid thing. I helped some girls at seldom times to try to get with him no matter how much I liked him. While I saw him liking those girls, and being an item with 2 of them.. my heart was aching for him. I was his trusted friend.. and he would talk to me about his girlfriends and the girls he liked. His heart got broken with the first girlfriend.. and his second girlfriend almost cheated on him.. I couldn't watch him get hurt anymore. I couldn't stand holding in my feelings. Everyday ever since I've met him, I've grown to like him more and more.. While he was still with his second girlfriend, I told him that I loved him. He.. thought it was only a simple crush. He told me.. I was just a girl. I cried for so long.. and he told me he doesn't want to deal with something that'll turn into drama. My heart was broken and I.. I still have feelings for him, and it's been 3 years since then.

I think you should.. go for it. I wish you luck, girl. I just hope you don't get hurt if anything happens.

You need to determine whether pursuing a relationship with this guy is worth ending the friendship you have with her. If her friendship is really important to you - choose her. If her friendship is not really important to you - all is fair in love and war!
But, be careful how you handle this - how you treat others in situations like this comes back to haunt (remind) you. Sometimes it's best to be the looser - forget the guy - maintain the friendship!
If she is a good friend or even a halfway decent friend - she'll be around longer than this guy!

talk it over with your friend, if she won't explode when she finds out you like him too. If you can't do that, you could either risk the friendship and go for him, or try to get over him in an attempt to put the friendship first. Gawd knows I've done that... was a good thing too lol

There are two ways to solve this,
One: Talk to your friend and solve the issue directly with her instead letting the guy to know because it will actually hinder your friendship.

Two: You and your friend go to him directly and say that you both like him, ask him to choose between you and her.
