As an alternative to a roast, and quick,
Take 1 chicken breast and butterfly it, i.e. cut it almost in half and open it out.
Dip the chicken in plain flour, shake off any excess.
Dip the floured chicken into beaten egg.
Dip the chicken into bread crumbs - ensure a good coating.
You can repeat the above.
Heat a frying pan and put in some oil. Shallow fry the chicken for about 3 minutes per side (careful not to burn it) adding a little butter just before finishing.
Nice crispy chicken. Serve with chips/veg/stir-fry

Try two eggs fried in lard, served with lashings of Heinz tomato sauce. If you are not on a diet, fry a couple of slices of bread also. Wash this down with a cup of strong tea (two teabags, left to soak for 5 minutes) laced with at least 3 spoons of sugar and a good helping of condensed milk.
Tomorrow, you will have no trouble at all in having ideas about what to have for tea, or any other meal!

Kebabs - diced pork, peppers, mushrooms & corgettes.
Served with roast potatoes or potato salad & green leaves.
You're got your meat & veg then, without the oven on for a roast.
Or, go with cold slices of roast meat, with salad & new poatoes (yum!)

Order yourself a take out pizza, or get a ready meal that you can pop in the microwave - some companies do roast diners that you can microwave.

Cook some pasta, throw in a tin of tuna, tin of sweetcorn, some mayo and some grated black pepper (and a bit of chilli if you're that way inclined) then throw some feta cheese on top just before you eat. Yummylicious, and fast!!
