Funny as ye should mention it ..... I picked up some white stuff just today. It is about as rare as rocking horse these days though and, yes, it is because people no longer feed bones to their Dogs.
What we see instead is Dogs with all sorts of 'new age' health problems directly, or indirectly connected. They suffer blocked anal glands because they pass only homogenised, identical waste day after day, after being fed homogenised waste - from a plastic sack - day after day.
'Bone Pellets' do the job of ..... oh god ..... forgive me; I'm still trying to eat my dinner here! Bones in the diet give a hard waste product that stretches the anus and thus squeezes the glands as nature intended.
Beef shin bones are good. Though the ammount of marrow tends to cause the Dog to suddenly expell a veritable broken necklace of pellets - a bugger if ye walking down the road and they go rolling everywhere.
Anyway; 'Spanish Gold' sweet tobacco. (Shredded coconut) Haven't had it since I was a kid but now know a place, on line, that does it! Treat meself one of these days :-)

I agree it has a lot to do with the changes in how our dogs are fed. I have two raw fed dogs and while their waste is not white right at first it becomes white and breaks down into dust within a day or two. On the raw feeding mailing lists this is often discussed and is quite common with dogs that are eating more naturally rather than eating kibble. With my boys it varies depending on the amount of bone in the meat I give them (I feed mainly chicken but also turkey and beef and they get whole raw eggs a few times a week - shell included). I imagine it also has something to do with the fact that kibble is not as easily digested as meat and so more of the kibble is turned into waste product and possibly also dyes being used depending on the brand of dog food being fed.

I experimented by giving my dog a real bone from the butchers every day, and lo and behold, he started doing white poo.
It is also apparently possible to turn a canary pink by putting paprika in its food, but I have never tried this.

that is so true! I used to see it all the time on my way to school. I know it goes white because it's been there for a while so maybe people are better at cleaning it up for fear of getting a fine! you know what I miss? lucky bags, oh yes and Total Sport magazine.
