I hate it when people use the Bible as their argument against same-sex marriage. It’s arrogant and conceited thinking. Not everyone believes the god of the Bible is the creator of the universe. Some of us are Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Atheists, and so on. In fact, there are more Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims and Atheists combined than there are Christians in the world. Leave religion and religious beliefs out of it.
That being said, it’s time for our society to get rid of the old fashioned, prudish, 1950’s, Puritan mentality. Do any of us have the right to tell two consenting adults who they can and cannot love? That’s two consenting adults. Not adult and animal or adult and child or adult and redwood tree. Animals, inanimate objects and children cannot make authoritative and consensual decisions. That is how we differentiate and know that allowing same-sex marriage won’t open the door to goats, chickens and children.
As to those who say it just makes them sick to think of a man with a man or a woman with a woman: Well, don’t think about it. Thinking of two wrinkled old senior citizens going at it doesn’t exactly perk a lot of people up either. How about two obese people? How’s that visual? Should we tell all the fat and old people that they’re not allowed to marry because the thought of them together makes us sick? Point is, it’s happening whether we like it or not. And, it’s none of our business. Prejudice, hate and narrow-mindedness won’t make it go away.
Another argument - It must be unnatural. But, if it is happening in nature, it is natural. Penguins, beetles, sheep, ostriches, flamingos, fruit bats, dolphins, and orangutans are just some of the animals that have same-sex relationships. Maybe God made a mistake. Maybe it’s evolution. Maybe it’s Mother Nature’s way of population control. Whatever it is, the animal kingdom is in on it too.
Same-sex marriage will only ruin the sanctity of marriage, right? “I had a sanctified marriage, but then they went and allowed same-sex marriage and now look at it… ruined, like a soiled dress. Dear me, what am I to do? I can’t get it back. It’s gone. Woe is me.” That must be what happens. I used to think it was adultery and divorce destroying all the sanctity. Coming home and finding someone else in bed with your loved one is apparently okay by comparison…
…which brings me back to the Bible argument in a round about way. When some people do start quoting scriptures, they often bring up Leviticus 20:13. What about 20:10? “The man who commits adultery with another man's wife, even he who commits adultery with his neighbor's wife, the adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.” I like the death part. Let’s reinstate that. Start writing your senator. God says, right?
So, the point …Yes, same-sex marriage should be legalized. It’s discrimination not too. Governments should offer the opportunity of marriage to every consenting adult couple or none at all.

I appreciate the "spirit" of your question.
You don't understand something VERY important about this issue.
In the United States same sex marriage is legal in all 50 states. There isn't a single state where gay people can't get married. The issue being debated across the land is should gay marriages be treated as equal to straight marriages?
If America is really about equal rights, then the answer is easy. If there are still people who believe that some people deserve more rights than others, then, for them, the answer is more complicated. The answer is easy, however, people muck it up with their own hatred, fear, and bigotry.

I firmly believe that they should not. Other than wanting to make a big statement, what is the real point?
The bible is there for all and tells us the way it is to be. No one has the right to re-write it. If we continue to let our lives be influenced and change our structure, where will it end? Heck, dogs have long been known to be "man's best friend", maybe that will be the next thing someone wants to change...legalize marriage between themselves and their pet!
Pedophiles may soon stand up and say, I was born this way, I have to be me and let my true self out, I must be with little children. How if we side-step the word in the Bible, can we know when enough is enough? Changing the rules for some brings about the desire to change it for another, and then another, and you get my point!

I think that same sex civil unions should be legal. I think that same sex people who want to join their financial assets should be able to legally do so. However, I do not feel that the US government should issue licenses to marry to any one---regardless of whether they are a same sex couple or to a man and a woman. Marriage is mostly a religious rite and the government has no business in it. Religious institutions should have the full right to determine who they will marry or not. Marriage is a religious matter. The government should stick to legal matters and not be in the business of deciding who can marry nor should they participate in giving benefits or penalties to those who decide to go through the religious rite of marriage (or not). It is none of the governments business---it is the business of each religious institution to decide for itself.

No way, it's un-natural. Two different genders were created for a reason. It's a very different matter from being of another background or social-class. It is an abomination in every religion, and has only been condoned recently by political correctness, which is taking things to extremes. It's not bigotry to be against it, it's normal human thinking

It doesn't really matter what the secular law does, so I don't care.
However the Christian Sacrament of Marriage (which is something far and beyond a legal document and company health benefits) can be altered only by God. It's not up to man to decide what is the Christian Sacrament of Marriage, which, incidentally, is something far and above "sex." (Paying for a hooker is no more a "marriage" than is wearing a class ring.)
I can't speak for other faiths.

NO. People practicing same sex marriage have failed to understand the wonderful sexual compatibility between men and women which God has given us to perpetuate human life on earth. This a matter of human wrongs.

God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. God is against any sexual rites that are against the laws he made and the laws of nature. Nature does not condone same sex marriages, for it is nature (natural) to propogate our species and same sexes cannot do so. Any union against the man/woman union made for our earth is wrong. Perversions of sex come from heteros and homos, males and females, so we cannot catagorize perversion for either.

Yes it should. If two people love eachother enough to get married why shouldn't they be able to. Just because some of our population believes it isn't right? I believe we should all be able to enter a marriage with whomever we want to spend the rest of our lives with.

Of course they should. In a civilized country, consenting adults should be able to marry the other consenting adult they love, no matter what the gender. That's true pursuit of life and liberty.
