Okay, unless you want a serious lifestyle change, don't sign up for boot camp. Boot camp isn't for people who take life for granted. I knew alot of people in the military who took life for granted. I spend 3 months in Marine Corps bootcamp and yes, you are told what to do, how to do it, when you could do it, and how often. It was the most drastic change of my life. It will test everything about you, mentally, physically, and emotionally. I hated it and loved it at the same time. Boot camp is basically teaches a person how to be military, they break you down and build you back up. Military school is for people who want to go from enlisted to officer and is also very hard. It is a lot more academic than boot camp though. If you need a wake up call, why not try volunteering? Go volunteer at a homeless shelter, a battered womens home, an animal clinic. You might just get that wake up call you're looking for and won't have to sign a contract in the process.

Military school is basically a learning center that focuses on discipline, physical training and also getting good grades in the basic learning skills. Boot camp is a whole other thing. Focuses on the basics of soldiering. It is culture shock for some and can help a bit but depends on attitude. Some folks just can't stand someone yelling and screaming at them. They feel that they drill Sargent are disrespecting them and not treating them as they think they deserve. So attitude change is either changed or the trainee washes out.

well..in boot camp you sure wont take life for granted...but i don't think that's the answer. In military school my guess is you would be around a bunch of little snot nosed rich kids all trying to outdo each other playing soldier...i don't think that's a good choice either. I think maybe what you need is a couple of weeks on a horse ranch...and QUIT TAKING LIFE FOR GRANTED!! See...that was easy.

Bootcamp involves no technology. Only mail to communicate with friends and family. One day a week to write letters for a predetermined amount of time. Getting up early. Going to bed late. Training all day with food that wouldn't even satisfy a starving man. Yelling, screaming, marching, the weather. You learn fast but you train harder.

It'll put you into your place alright. Sounds like a good choice for someone who wants to be told what to do, when to do it, how long to do it and not to ask why you're doing it.

I've been in for 23 years. Boot-camp was fun. I'll never forget the people and things I did there. I learned quite a few things about myself for one.
Military school could be different things. It could be a prep-school for officer training or the academy itself to become an officer.

Bootcamp makes you into a soldier. Military school makes you into an officer. You do more schooling in military school but you will also do p.t, and you will still have to go to bootcamp.

to tell you the truth bootcamp was a joke to me. If you really want to straighten up visit you state prison. Ask for the scared straight program. It works better then bootcamp. I have been there. it worked in less then four hours.

go to college get all the vacations you can handle, get a masters degree, get a 6 figure per year paying job then see if you want to join the armed forces. dont join the armed forces to go to college, you still go to war. at 6 figures a year you can afford to take life for granted and you wont get other soldiers killed cause
the job the duty means nothing to you.
