Of course they can.. As I have stated before, though.. whether a cat or a dog.. If there are two cats in the house, they will work it out among both of them to see who is the TOP CAT... same with dogs.. One will be dominent.. this does not mean they will be fighting each other over territory.. It may take a few days but they will work it out and they will be able to live well together. I had an old cat... 16 years old and weighed 9 pounds.. He was old. The new kitty was 2 years old and weighed eventually 22 pounds. Normally, the 22 pound cat could have killed the OLDer cat but the older cat was the TOP cat and the younger cat gave WAY to anything the older cat wanted.

I would not leave them alone together for awhile. The older one will try and dominate the little one. That might make the Little one mean or extremely passive. Encourage bonding not gruffness. A lot of attention to the older one when together. After awhile show them both attention at the same time. It will take some time, don't expect a quick match.

Yes, it is wise to have them neutered though to prevent aggression. Dogs usually sort out the pecking order rather quickly so they should be ok together. Monitor them together until you know they can be trusted with each other and keep an eye on them at feeding times, often food aggression can cause fighting.

I think your looking at trouble,Specially with a 8 week old pup...You will probably have your house in a big mess...I would wait until the 8 week pup gets alittle older...If you want to safe your house!!

Yes, but being that young I can imagine they will want to chew on things.
