"Religion has caused more wars than anything else in history."
It is true that man has used religion for political gain. Nazi Germany had "God with us" engraved in German on the belts of Nazi soldiers. America said, "Praise the Lord and pass the ammunition." The law may even allow you to start the Christian Nazi Party, if you so desire. You can become a "reverend" for a few dollars through the tabloid classifieds and then further your political agenda with the world’s blessing, no matter how much it smears the name of Christ.
Jesus tells us in John 16:2,3 that there will be some who, in their error, commit atrocities and murder in the name of God: "The time is coming that whosoever kills you will think that he does God service." However, He informs us that these are not true believers: "And these things will they do to you, because they have not known the Father, nor me." (See also 1 John 3:15.)
Jesus told His followers to love their enemies. So if a man puts a knife into someone’s back in the name of Christianity, something obviously isn’t right. If we human beings can detect it, how much more will God? He will deal with it on Judgment Day.
"I know that the Lord is always on the side of right. But it is my constant
anxiety and prayer that I—and this nation—should be on the Lord’s side."
-Abraham Lincoln

I don't know about all religions, but what I can tell u is my belief... the bible is just accounts written by different people to be used as merely a guide. Religious people take it literally, twist the words 2 best advance thier cause, & abuse peoples faith, trust, & hope. I believe that it is religion & not spirituality that brings all of this on. We could all learn a lot from each other if we just used these books as other peoples experiences & just heed the warnings & inspirations that I believe they r trying 2 teach.

hi fren u r flawed keeping that God straight away forgets His Commandments, 'Thou shalt no longer kill" Your ideas is punctiliously drifted away by utilizing the wars contained in the Bible contained in the incorrect experience the reason behind those wars and killings became that God became with Joshua and Joshua being a guy of God he had to provide the Israelites from its enemies from all corners you be conscious the Israelites were the selected human beings of God and God has to guard their safe practices from their enemies So wars and killings right here's authentic. Does it make experience to kill a guy jus for his money and possesions?? yet right here contained in the Bible God has a particular purpose to its reason besides the undeniable fact that am no longer a preacher or in spite of, neither am non secular yet i do sense proper what's ideal for a righteous reason thanks

thou shall not kill.. That means dont kill someone for no reason. If someone is raping your wife are you going to stand there and wait for him to finish and ask him to leave? NO! I would kill that man.

"Thou shalt not commit adultery." "Thou shalt not steal." I guess it's the same reasons that people don't listen to those commandments, either.

Because if people didnt fight over religion they would just find another reason to kill each other. Sad really.

They believed it, but it doesn't necessarily ensure they that one practices it. Very common now-a-days, similar to premarital intercourse in todays teenage christians, and egotism in today's buddhists. To focus on bettering yourself, improving yourself, is to better the world, inadvertently.
