It can be very rewarding or it can be a disaster. You have to be more aware of things when you marry somebody from a different country because of possible culteral issues.
You need to make sure that you understand everything you possibly can about that person and their culture so you do not offend or upset them to the point that the want to end the marriage. By learning everything you can (and having them learn about you, too) you are also building a stronger bond whichcan carry you past any minor arguments.
The other potential danger is marrying somebody so that they can escape their country to go to a richer country. The risk here is that the person might stay with you long enough to qualify to stay in your country and then try to get a divorce from you. Unfortunately, this happens a lot in the USA.

Depends on what makes you value YOUR time.
My dad married a woman from China last year. He lives in US. And they met online and talked for a year, she couldn't come here, so he went to China for 2 weeks and married her. They still talk every single day.
BUT she hasn't been able to move here yet. Immigration laws are stricter than they once were. And I know that it has been hard for my dad, really hard. There is no real answer to why it has taken so long for her to get clearance to come to the US...and there are no real answers as to how long it will take. They just have to keep filling out papers and making copies and going to interviews. Hopefully they will get to start their lives soon.
