I just had a baby, and I remember the sweetest gift I got while pregnant was a thoughtful letter from a friend, expressing her excitement and support for us. She also enclosed a gift cert for Toys r Us, but I didn't think that was at all necessary. The letter is what meant the most. I cried!

The best gift would be a truly personal one- you! Be interested, ask questions and put up with the constant baby talk with a happy smile and kind words. Wait till the birth to buy a present. By that time you should have a very good idea of what to get, because you have been so attentive during the pregnancy!

Maybe you should hold off on sending a present. The miscarriage rate is really high in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy. Im not trying to be negitive but 1 in 3 women miscarry.
~You could send a congrats card or something like that. Even a little gift card.

well, buy her a clothing which is neutral( either boy or girl) but if you don't have much money to spend on it, buy her sth to decorate the baby's room. A Teddy-bear kinda big), a small but cheerful painting, or open an account at a baby store and invite some friends of yours that she knows too, to contribute by giving a small amount of money and then the mummy can go there and buy whatever she likes!

Something for her. The first pregnancy is very special because every thing is a new experience... and pretty soon it will be all about the baby... how about a gift certificate to Motherhood? You guys can go shopping together when she starts getting a belly.

You can always give her a certificate for a hair cut or manicure - something she can use later when she isn't feeling a 100% pretty. And a nice card! I suppose getting baby things is kind of silly until she has her shower!
Congratulations to your friend!

A small but thoughtful gift would be a good book on pregnancy to help guide her through the pregnancy.

I agree with the pampering, but also maybe a little print or plaque that she could hang up and always remember the special bond the both of you have. Even when things are going bad, when she looks at that plaque or print, she will remember how hard her and hubby tried and the happy results.

nicely, i would not desire to offer her something that shows toddlers or being pregnant for the easy reason that if something ought to ensue in the process the 9 months that it must be very difficult and painful to look back on. perhaps an worry-free yellow rose in a bud vase could be effective to designant the two toddler....or consistent with threat an worry-free "thinking of you" card. presently you quite must be careful....i do no longer mean to sound unfavourable, yet when I get extremely excited that somebody is pregnant and then down the line discover out that they miscarried....i think extremely undesirable! "Houseitch" is sweet....basically be her buddy....keep your money...you could SPEND at and for the bathe!
