When those they're serving start acting like CIVILIZED SOCIETIES!!
What have YOU done for missing children? How is it they are supposed to do all this when they ask for information from witnesses and noone sees anything?
They work on finding missing kids all the time and most aid the abused on a daily basis. Finding killers...also a regular thing. Part of keeping the peace is squelching trouble - gosh here's a novel idea - don't do drugs or get on probation.
You really want to live where there's lawlessness go to somewhere laws don't exist.
They can't be everywhere and there is NO way they're going to please everyone so it's time people stop acting like they are so perfect themselves and give credit where credit is do. Very few of the community do anything to help them do their job with information, support and a thank you every now and then. Since obviously the critics can do so much better perhaps you should take up the job and show them how to do it. And if you're alive after the first month you've probably learned a thing or two from them.
Not to say there isn't bad ones out there - but the MAJORITY are NOT. They can't be everyone to everyone. The continuous attacks on their characters in one broad stroke on here is not right.
A minority of teachers and others betray trust too - they aren't slammed in public forums as all being the same.
Stop complaining and be glad they're there looking.

There are reasons why police can't find missing children or murders: THEY ARE MISSING OR HIDING. There is only so much questioning you can do. When you have no information what do expect them to do?? Police are people juse like you, you can solve that murder just as easliy as they can.
What if those people the police are stopping are the kidnappers or the murders? If the police don't stop people how do they find these people of they are hiding?
There is only so much you can do for an abused person. Statisicly an abused person will keep going back to the abuser over and over again until they are alomost killed or are killed.
If police Don't activly combat crimes like drugs or probation violations you are just aiding the criminals in hurting other people somwhere down the road.
You give the criminals no reason to fear getting in trouble for thier thefts, burglarys, robberys, or what ever.
If you don't activly enforce laws or look for stuff wrong, there is no deterant for wrong doings.
I look at it this way, if you are doing nothing wrong and the police question you a little....don't worry about it. They are sorting the bad from the good. How else do you do it?

And you live in Mexico City, right? Nope, I'm not inviting you north to avoid your own police.
I don't know about your part of the world, but police officers are just fine in the towns I'm acquainted with--but I'm not going to spoil it and say where. They usually only pull over folks who look like they are doing something unlawful, suspicious, or are out of place around here. You might look out of place too, so stay where you are. In some parts of the world, there are really corrupt cops, you have to leave a trail of money just to get home from the store. Poor but pretty girls don't leave home alone, especially at night. Visit some of those places and you will see that American cops (British are better still) are pretty good people--folks you can often trust your life too when they are there..

Did you EVER wonder what it's like being a police officer in this country? They put their lives on the line every single day to TRY to make sure the cities are safe for ungrateful idiots like you!! Yet they CONTINUE to do their best! Granted, there are some who give in to corruption, but I can guarantee that the percentage of those officers is minimal, compared to the ones who save lives on a daily basis! Did you EVER stop to think that perhaps on one of those days in question, when they "pulled someone over to ask them about drugs or probation", they could very well have thwarted an effort at a drive-by shooting that may have KILLED YOU or someone you love?! Like the lyrics of that old Joe South song: "Hey, before you abuse, criticize and accuse, walk a mile in my shoes"!!

PEOPLE are corrupt. And cops are people. You cannot have a society without cops. Therefore, there will always be corrupt cops. Deal with it.
Why not pull up next to a squad car and ask this question. Maybe they can answer it better than I can. I am certain they appreciate how they risk thier lives for public safety and get rewarded with this kind of rhetoric.

Most officers do their quite well for poor pay, poor citizen support and try to protect people who in some cases shouldn't be protected. I have read several of your posts and I have to say if I was a cop and you were one of my citizens I was paid to protect I WOULD QUIT MY JOB IN A HEART BEAT because you would complain if your Ice Cream was too cold. You sure can bad mouth the cops, but I am almost positive you have never lifted a hand to help anyone else, you are by far too stuck on yourself.

This so called person on drugs driving might hit ur car and kill you but we never think of that. Cops are heros!!!! No wonder why u cant find a guy at 38. I wouldnt want you. You are probably the one siting at movie theaters always rooting for the bad guy to win and when the cops win you cry foul. Go to ur local prison and find a boyfriend!

The Oklahoma City bomber was caught by a Police Officer doing a normal traffic stop.
You think he should go free because the cop 'should have been doing something else'?

They are usually reacting, to violence, so they can't be peaceful.
Oh you got pulled over. Well keep clean.
They are doing their Jobs, some work on cases, thief, missing children, others look to keep people out of harms way by pulling over suspicious behavior. they've had a lot of experience. It's near 4th of July and theirs a lot more wackos acting up out there.
