What kind of movie file? What's the size? Where do you want to be able to play the CD?

There are lots of important questions you should answer first, but here's some general information:

Nero and Roxio sell the most common software titles for burning CD's and DVD's. One likely came with your burner. Whether or not you have this ability already, depends on the version of the software you have and what it is exactly you are trying to accomplish.

I prefer Nero Ultra 6 for all of my burning needs. Ultra 7 was recently released with mixed reviews (I haven't used that yet).

Some sites that may help:

Try a search on google or yahoo...

Nero CD burner.
If you have Windows XP installed, no need for this either.

if you have a blank cd of capacity more than 700 mb (which I doubt you do), you can use nero or winDVD creator. There are lots of software actually.

There video compressors that are able to compress videos into smaller sizes, they use codecs to encrypt the size. Have you heard of DivX? It's popular because of its software and especially of its codec. You can download a free program that can compress, called VirtualDub, just google it. That compresses videos by using famouse codecs.
