During the covered wagon/ American Frontier days, a man, Brigham Young, declared himself a prophet of God. He gathered a huge following (and a good living) fast and created a strict religious doxology.

Basically: men were men who could have as many wives (polygamy) needed to "serve" his home and basically, the wives and their children all worship him as the dominant one of his household.

The final household decision rested with the Father of the house--who was a cabinet member of the church headed by a prophet in a complex polygamist network of the time. In short: the network got chaotic and family trees were getting messy---fast.

Women had submissive household roles as did children. Family bonding was centered around dedicated religion.....and hence, the Mormon faith was born.

For reasons still cloudy, the Mormon faith denounced polygamy and the headquartered Mormon state, known today as Utah, made polygamy illegal. Census estimates put the total of at least 20k of "faithful Mormon purists" still practice ( in secret ) the polygamy doxology of the religion.

The Tom Hanks produced HBO series "Big Love" is intelligently written....and poses some deep thoughts on the subject of religion, polygamy....and the political dynamics of conflict within.

Exactly what does the world have against Mormons? Why do you need "dirt"? Are you afraid that you will be condemned, is your self-esteem that low that you have to try to make the Mormons look bad? Honestly why is it soooo bad? You guys don't ever say "Where can I get dirt on the Baptist?" or "How can I make the Catholics look bad?" Why is it always against the Mormon religion. We don't diss your religion, why diss ours. The Mormon religion cannot hurt you and it won't. We have our beliefs, the Catholics have theirs, the Presbyterians have their beliefs, the Satan Worshipers have theirs...get my drift. Next time think twice before you open your mouth (or type). Because it's not only Mormons out there that believe in Christ.
3 Nephi 11:35 Verily, verily, I say unto you, that this is my doctrine, and I bear record of it from the Father; and whoso believeth in me believeth in the Father also; and unto him will the Father bear record of me, for he will visit him with fire and with the Holy Ghost. Try reading 3 Nephi chapter 11. It is your guide to Eternal Life. Whether you believe it or not, before you diss on someone and their religion, get a little background. To help you out, cuz from my point right now your sitting on ice, thin ice.

When Smith was trying to get his bank going he got a big chest and filled it up with sand and then put a layer of gold coins on top. Then he invited anyone who was skeptical about his bank's solvency to come look at his chest full of gold. That's just a story I have heard-it may not be true but the bank did fail. No matter what stories I hear about Smith I think he was an amazing man in some ways.

I'm too tired to give you a long reply right now, but if you're patient enough to search through all my previous answers you will find probably hundreds of posts with dirt on the Mormon church.

There's a difference between looking for pros and cons or experiences compared to simply looking for dirt. If you just ask for dirt, that's all you'll get. Are you simply looking for weapons to use against Mormons or did you phrase the question wrong? If you have no current reason to oppose them, why look for one?

In Matthew Jesus was asked what the greatest commandment was. His answer was , To love God. His next response was , To love his neighbor as himself.

All you so called Christians that belittle other religions, no matter what religion you are belittling, Should be embarrassed to even call yourself Christians.

People like the one who asked this question and like most of the ones who answered this questions are the ones who give Christians a bad name. They are not following Jesus's teaching and yet they call themselves Christians.

Well... for a religion that is based on a series of lies.. surprisingly not. Is it really that relevant to have "dirt" on any group of people? Does the origin of a system of belief that brings hope and joy to thousands of people really matter that much?

Yeah, here is some! They are an upright, Christian religion. They believe:
We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.

We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon this the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

They don't believe in bashing other religions!

Wthout faith you can do nothing. Ask that you know the Mysteries of God, that you may Translate and receive knowledge from all those ancient records which have been hidden. They are sacred and acccording to your faith shall it be done unto you.
