OK so tell us why should we Not believe the bible that is historically proven, written over and over again by people that were there. More copies of this exist than other texts that we consider fact without question.
Sure if they knock on your door challenge them, go for it. I do the same if/when Mormons knock on the door. I'm quite sure you haven't been harassed.
Do you call it harassment when the girl scouts knock on your door? You may want to ask yourself why you get so upset about it.
I've never knocked on any ones door. If someone asks I tell them.

Because all the people in powr are religious. They're the ones making all those social rules of conduct about God and the like.
But at the same time I get irritated by some of the more outspoken Atheist groups. I'm tired of hearing, "I don't want my child saying 'under God' in the pledge of alegience." I myself am Atheist but I never understood what the big deal was. The guys who wrote all of the Constitution, Bill of Rights, etc. were all Christian, so they used Christian terminology. But the underlying theme in it's use was that we are meant to have faith in our country. It's called symbolism people, learn to use it. I was upset when there was a movement to remove the ten commandments from judiciary buildings. Yes, it was borrowed from Christianity, but the idea was that Law should be just.
The staff emblem you see associated with medicine was borrowed from Greek/Roman 'mythology' so why don't we hear people complaining that the doctor performing open-heart surgury on them is Pagan?
OK, I realize that was a bit of a tangent. Keep in mind I am avidly Atheist. I just have issues with certain zealots.
Oh, and a note to the guy who compared God with an unknown stranger who pays off convicted criminols' fines: If I were to come accross such a man that allows dangerous lawbreakers to go free, I'd kill him!

It is not right to be harassed by anyone. Unfortunately, today's Christians believe in converting people not only here but all over the world. In this "spreading of the word" they do not realize many people feel harassed, disrespected and cultures have been wiped out.they think they are doing "Gods" work, they just don't realize other people have their own God/Great Spirit, etc.
I say "no thank you" the first time and get more in their face if they don't leave me alone. Same as I would treat a drunk man in a bar that does not understand "NO". I will never instigate physical confrontation, but walk away.

As a Christian it is stated that we are to share the word. That said I would not go knocking on someones door.
Unfortunately it may take a tough time in some ones life to realize that they are not in control and then will get on their knees for answers!
I consider myself a recently devoted Christian ...due primarily to my own looking into because I wanted to know the truth not because I wanted to support one side or the other....my conclusion is that with out question God is the creator and the answer. I enjoy the tough question back at me because I want answers I want to know my belief's are sound, it builds my foundation or maybe I will get the question that cracks my foundation?! Either way we all need to be asking the question so that at the end you aren't looking back saying .....maybe I should have asked that question or looked into that a bit more! I see it as something way to important to put on the back burner and I got myself informed with the facts!! I am glad I did!! I suggest you and others do the same!

I'm surprised you don't recognize the benefits of the U.S.A. Constitution and Bill of Rights.
You all do. Period. That doesn't mean that others won't argue with you. That's their right. Free speech works both ways, not just your way. In a way, that's your point.
But then you ask people not to argue in a forum meant for it. You call their arguments harrassment (I am not addressing the logic or validity of their arguments), when your participation here is voluntary.
In addition I'm confused as to which group you claim to belong to. Reread your question and you may see why (or maybe I'm just confused).
Everyone, keep speaking up, keep disagreeing, keep arguing. Keep it according to Yahoo! Answers rules, and we'll all do fine and the one's who can't will get dropped enough (report them everytime, the system works), that they'll leave for easier pickings.
People who build their self-image on upsetting or putting down others rarely have the stamina or self-discipline to deal with real structure or confrontation on an intellectual level. Keep reporting them when they break the rules (look up the "report abuse" button under their picture to see the options).

No, harassment isn't okay. Most religious people who are sharing a scriptural message are doing it because they think they've found something valuable, joyful, comforting, etc., that they want to share. If they offer and are turned down, better that they should be respectful and leave rather than risk an argument. Perhaps the person next door is more interested today.

Its not ok for anybody!
Debate is ok, harassment is another issue.
When you ask a question on here you have to expect all opinions, that includes opinions from everybody!
I am a Christian and I will answer questions from my perspective, from what I beleive in.
I don't go knocking on doors, and bothering people, but when someone asks about God I will tell them. I don't harass people.
Have you looked around? You think that its only the religious people doing the harassment?

Religion (in general) is a very "taboo" subject... in that everyone has different believes and those need to be respected. Bible, Coran... or anythign else for that matter, everyone has a choice to pick what they want. It's like a big buffet, bunch of people around, not everyone is going to pick the same thing to eat.

Not all people are like that. And I present the Gospel. What you do with it is between you and God. I'm called to share it then get out of the way. And people do force their beliefs on Christians.... way more than you are giving them credit for. Try to see both sides.... even though most people won't

I wished you made sense! You are generalizing. No one is sticking a gun to head to come to this section and rest of the non-believers! You are the one wasting ur time with this question and stirring up strife. You and others non-believers need to act like you got morals and spend time somewhere else! I know your going to Hell that's why your nickname is Hellbound and the rest of your groupies.
