The Himalayas, of course. Go if you have the opportunity - it's a fascinating place.

Tibet is the "roof of the world". That ought to make it special enough that worth a visit. Let me give you some of the attractive things:

1. Tibetan Culture. This is a unique culture that was formed in combination of the altitude of the land and Buddhism.

2. Scenary. Absolutely breathetaking!

3. High Land experience. If you have never been to Tibet, you will not be able to imagine the feeling when people say "the oxigen level is low in Tibet". I was grasping for air when I climbed the staircase of the hotel (only 1 storey). Can you imagine that?

4. Clean and crisp air. Cannot get this in the cities nowadays.

Now there are trains connecting Beijing to Llhasa. You no longer need to travel by air. Beautiful scenary along the train tracks is another plus point to the visit.

Mt Everest.....ahhhh! Lhasa is fantastic, the Potala palace (where the Dali Lama once lived til exiled by the Chinese, see Brad Pit's movie 'Seven Years in Tibet'), the monasteries (check out the Sera, debating at 3pm in the garden, lots of fun!).

The whole road trip to Everest Base Camp, great scenery, great villages you cans top at to meet the locals. Getting to see the sunset on Mt Everest is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Festivals you can see along the way with cow/ yakboys (they're great!) and try yak butter tea and yak meat- delish!

It's worth going to Lhasa just to see the Potala palace. There are many beautiful temples and monasteries in and near Lhasa. Good food, too.

Just make sure you spend your money in TIBETIAN restaraunts and hotels and with Tibetian guides. The Han Chinese are destroying the native culture by offering tax incentives to any Han that moves out there and they are taking money from the locals.
