So this Christian anti-porn ministry is handing out these Bibles at porn conventions. The cover art of the Bibles says "Jesus Loves Pornstars".
Do you think this is the best way to go about this?

I think its great that they are reaching out to people in the Porn Industry. Yes Jesus loves everybody!, but the cover of the book looks a bit like its trying too hard.In a way its good because people will actuially pick up this copy because its "controversial". But I dont know if they will actuially read it. Its a "Message" Translation too. It would be better if it was a NIV or something. "The message" translation is nice, but I wouldent start with it personally.

Hi....great question. I will agree with suthrndasy, if anyone is reached (even one person) then it was successful. However, I understand what your saying..Take street evangelism and gospel tracts, I'm not a big fan of either one of those methods - in fact, I think lots of folks are turned off by them. However, all methods of evangelism have "seed planting" capabilities and God can use anything to bring the lost to him and He can speak through any situation. One thing we have to remember, God reveals himself to people and removes thier blindfold when he chooses... it's not by our works that people come to Christ.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. I've heard of this before. Jesus does love porn stars, but you're right that it's a little unnerving. Maybe "Jesus loves you" on the cover would be a little better. But if it helps the people that are in the industry, that's ok with me.
I'm not a big fan of the Message bible really, I like the NKJV.

This may not be the best way to go about it. Though it may be more effective than you think. These people have always heard things like this.... your sick... perverted... dirty... a sinner... going to hell... filth... nasty... the list could go on forever.
This could be the first time that a person ever hears that Jesus loves you. There might only be 5 converts out of 5000, but wouldn't be worth it in the end.

No.... I think we as Christians should spread the word in a more gentle and not so humorous manner. Salvation is serious and shouldn't be taken so lightly. I think they're probably trying to reach people by being very laid back, but it sends the message that pornstars can continue what they do and still have a relationsip with Christ.

i heard about his actually from my friend ashley, apparently they hang out at porn conventions passing out bibles. its an attempt o convert the people that they think are the worsed off. pornstars.
porn really isnt immoral in my opinion. these people go around trying to convert people and fighting with the people who pass out condoms at the conventions....theyre basically trying to save the hot chicks.
idiots in my opinion. a sort of "leave no soul behind" thing, or "no soul too far" thing....we all kno how well those "no____left behind" programs work too...heh...

Jesus does love porn stars...and gay people and atheists and the list goes on.
We must go where they are. Jesus didn't hang out with the saints did he? He was the friend of sinners. How else can we win them? The little I just read about it looked good in my opinion. :o)

i think to each their own...if you dont like porn dont look at it. But in answer to your question i think it makes them look like morons. And im not sure that mixing a flashy porn themed cover whith the bible is a very good idea.

It's silly. There's nothing wrong with porn. If you don't like it, don't click on sites featuring it.
