Why don't the Scots like the English?

I married a Scotsman and could not believe the things his parents used to say to me. They were rude and cold because I was English, and they asked my husband why he couldnt have married a Scots lass! Needless to say we never got on very well!
Personally, I have found the Scots to be generally very nice people, and quite often more moral than the English, with of course two exceptions, MY IN LAWS!

Just like us Irish, a lot of Scots hate the English because of it's imperial colonial past, the percieved arrogance and the fact that sports stars from Scotland, north of Ireland or Wales are "British" when they are winning but hen get their regional discription when they loose- latest example is Andrew Murray in the tennis- when he was winning he was "Britain's new sporting hope" but when he lost on Monday, Tuesday's papers all referred to him as Scottish!
Plus the thing that everything is London based winds up a lot of people- if there is a heatwave in London, then the weather reports are all about how hot it is etc, even though north or west of the border it could be raining.
There is also the fact that many soldiers who have died over the years for "Britain" have been Scots, Irish or Welsh, yet Britain is still defined as Englishness. The fact too that the recent World cup demonstrated that the English are still fixated with a war that finished 60 years ago and use jingoism as an excuse to go and attack other nations supporters- apart from some Dutch fans, who else wore replica WW2 German army helmets and sing songs about shooting down German bombers? These fans can't seem to put things behind them and get on with living in a world where actualy Germany has excelled at more things than Britain since the defeat of Nazi fascism.

I think the only people that like the English are Americans, and this is because they lump all Brits together, they aren't aware of the differences , they should be aware that the English are and always have been a bunch of pompus thugs that built an Empire by treading on all who got in their way.
They don't have an Empire anymore, they have been booted out of most countries!
They will soon be booted out of Ireland and have to give their little patch back to the Irish people!

well as an Englishman who was married to a Scottish, lets say, woman for 17 years I can only say we would be better off if they had built Hadrians Wall a lot bloody higher and if I was in charge like tony blair I would have all the unemployed and immigrants rebulding the bloody thing to keep them out of England... they hate it so much, yet there are so many down south.. clear off back to where then men wear dresses you load of racist pigs...
