Im using Sonic record now. It takes like 45 minutes to convert and encode the files then another 15-20 to burn. My friend burns a dvd in a few minutes.

Well, ~sigh~ this is how it goes. I have the same problem. Do you take files from your hard drive and burn them? The long wait is your computer converting them, if you look the files that you are converting are very small, but the finished product is a couple gigs, it just takes a while for your computer to proccess all that information. You should try shutting down other programs, and perhaps turning up the priority on the program that you are using to convert. Not much to say, sorry

Depending on what types of files you are starting off with. If you are having to re-encode to dvd, then that's why it is taking that long.
Your friend may be using the video_ts folder. The speed you're actually burning at...also how much ram you have, the more ram you have the faster it will re-encode.

Suggestions: buy more ram, and don't run too many things at once while going through the process. Do NOT multi-task.
