My grandma makes really good scalloped potatoes. This is how she makes it -
Slice 6 medium sized potatoes, and layer the potatoes in 2 layers with pats of margarine and slices of Velveeta or cheeder cheese. Then top it with a lil salt and pepper. I'm not sure how long she cooks it, but just cook it at 350 til the potatoes are done.

I didn't realize someone else was posting a recipe pretty much like one, lol. Well, the salt doesn't need to be kosher. Just slice the potatoes as you would if you were frying them.

You could do Home Fries: Two or three large baked potatoes, or microwaved potatoes, with skin, cooled overnight in the refrigerator. Heat a heavy pan (I love my cast iron skillet), add about half a stick of butter and several tablespoonfuls of canola or corn oil, a medium sized onion, diced, about half a cup of finely diced bell pepper (green or red), and the potatoes, cut into 1" chunks. Add salt, pepper, and about a teaspoon of "Italian Seasoning." Mix gently, turn down the heat, and let the potatoes cook about 20 minutes, until they brown on the bottom. Flip them over with your spatula and mix them up again, scraping up the browned bits on the bottom of the pan, and cook for another 20 minutes or so, until they're nice and crusty. Serve with sour cream. This is another prescription for a heart attack, but they sure are good.

you bet cha
wash them and then slice about 1/4 inch slices, kind of thin, but ok, now add kosher salt and butter and bake for 35 min at 375 in pref glass tray, then bring them oput and add pepper and sour cream, yummmo
edit:
ALWAYS use Kosher or sea salt, the table salt is made with iodine and tastes nasty, shame on the one below, anyways, your cheddar cheee will clump up , silly head, better do your homework before you mess up her kitchen too, tee hhee
