Most people think you should avoid shellfish, including shrimp because it is high in cholesterol. But Ask Yahoo! says you really don't have to worry about your intake of seafood.
And this article supports that:

Salt water seafood has cholesoral but the omega-3 fatty acids are so good for you, that you should have them anyway --tuna, mackeral, salmon especially.

The problem with LOBSTER, CRAB and shellfish is that they are typically cooked or sauteed in BUTTER and are therefore loaded with cholestoral. The same is often true for trout and many of the other fresh water fish --they way they are prepared makes them unhealthy for those with a heart condition.

The cholesterol in seafood is not really harmful. Just don't fry anything.

Avoid shellfish, especially crabs. And crab guts are the worst. And if you've never heard of people eating them, well, they do and its a huge amount of cholesterol you get. Stay away from them!
