I had surgery years ago and because of it my teeth are going yucky. I'm getting them fixed soon but I feel embarrased that people may think I have poor hygiene - which I don't. I really like a man I met at a bus stop - he asked for my phone number but since then I have lost a front tooth - he rang and wants to go out for coffee this weekend. I don't know how to hide it without looking like an idiot. Mind you, I suppose if he's a decent guy he won't care but I care. I'm 35 and while I'm not desperate to find someone, I do want to start dating again after an 8 year break but with my teeth in the shape they're in I'm afraid of loads of knockbacks. I'm also rather cuddly - definitely not obese but I have love handles!! Lol!! Are there men out there for whom these flaws of mine would not be a problem? I would love some answers as this is something I have been worrying about for quite a while and it's driving me mad!! Thank you and I hope whoever is reading this is having a wonderful week!

A missing tooth would not phase me in the least. Teeth are one the last things I look at on a woman if at all. A leg or breast or arm would be for a few minutes a little disconcerting but if she was pretty, vibrant and interesting I would have no problem forgetting about the missing body part except to be carefull not to make an insensitive joke and to be watchfull for any special needs she'd have. A tooth is nothing.

Look at it this way. If they guy worries a bunch about your tooth it's an easy way to figure out he's not worth your time anyway. I've never met a woman who's best attibute was her teeth. Women who's smile is a part of thier charm it's not the physical smile itself, it's the heart that goes into that smile which makes it bueatiful.

So do your thing. Good luck with the date. If your into strange long haired guitar playing know it alls send me a note if the date don't work out :)

Hon... the man asked for your number, called AND asked you out so obviously he doesnt have a problem with your tooth or your being cuddly....If you are worried about what he thinks... just be honest and tell him the truth about what happened in regards to the tooth... i dont think he cares much since he already saw you and asked you out!!!! Sorry.... just re-read your question and realized that he doesnt know about the tooth... still just tell him, be honest and let it go from there

we all have flaws. that is a law of nature. i am a bit on the cuddly side myself-6'1" 280 and am missing at least two teeth from a childhood "accident". i am a decent guy and i, for one, would not be ashamed of being seen in public with you. have a nice holiday, babe. don't worry, be happy.

well if he likes you also, i just tell him what happened and that you are going to have it fixed. I lost 4 front teeth about 3 weeks ago because of a patient at the hospital knocked them out and i am still out dating, i just tell them what happened.

Well, you can just be honest, meet him, inform him that you had an accident where you tooth was knocked out and that it will be repaired shortly. Like you said, if he is a decent guy, he can see past your imperfection and would want to get to know you better.

First and foremost, find your self confidence (whereever you hid it) and get it back. If you met a guy you like, tell him the truth, let him know up front what you are going thru. Good guys will be understanding, and supportive of you thru it all.
