there should be instructions from the owners/ caretakers. I really hope so!
Usually, a dog gets fed once or twice a day (I think it's more common to feed a dog twice a day), once in the morning, and once in the evening. Probably something like 8 am and 6 pm. Ask the owners about the portion size, too, because that's very important. You need to have the right kind of food as well-- using different food than usual will cause the dog's stomach to become upset (may cause diarrhea). Ask about the instructions, and you probably don't need to give more than 1 - 1.5 cups of dry kibble twice a day.

You can feed a dog 2 to 3 times a day. Larger dogs can go with two times a day feeding and its the smaller guys that are better with three times. All in all, it depends on the pet. Some people feed free choice, but that tends to get the animal fat.
If you are petsitting, then its best to keep the animal on the schedule that he is on with his owner. Keep the animal on the same food as well.
Sudden changes can lead to problems such as diarrhea and so if he is doing fine on the schedule with his owner, try to stick to that. (Weimeraners also have a tendency to be high strung and nervous) He will already be stressed by being without his owner for a month. You don't want to add on to it by feeding a different schedule.
Hope this helps!

It depends on the size and age of the dog. If it's a small, adult dog, twice a day, if it's a large adult dog, once a day in the morning or evening. If it's a puppy, it depends on the age of the puppy. Talk to the owner and find out when they feed it, so that you can help the dog settle in - at least he will know when his food will appear if nothing else!

twice a day, once at 7 am once at 7 pm
watching a weinareiner for a month? The owner will tell you when to feed the dog. That would be best so no change of diet will disrupt the stomache.

You need to ask the owner what the feeding schedule and amounts are. I have two pit bulls and a cocker spaniel that I feed twice a day. One cup of dry food for the pits and 3/4 a cup for the cocker. They get the morning feeding at 7 and the evening feeding at 6.

my understanding is that once a day is adequate. Leave out plenty of water. Maybe a dog treat after dinner max.
My family does not give any people food to the dog at the table.
Occasionally a couple bites after dinner. Especially if the dog is home most of the day and only gets out to walk a couple of times a day.

I would feed the dog you are dog sitting whenever the owner usually does it so that it doesn't get off schedule.
I can tell you that you can feed a dog too much. My husband did once and it nearly killed the dog! The dog would just eat and eat and eat, so my husband kept feeding him. He learned a $2000 lesson the hard way.

I think 1 cup of dog food twice a day is what you're supposed to feed them. Honestly though, when I had a dog, I usually always kept his food bowl full. As long as the dog isn't too over weight, he should be fine. :)

If you're dog sitting, I would expect the owner to fully brief you.
My toy poodle always has food and water. She eats and drinks when she chooses. But my daughter has a pug, and that would never work with him. He eats anything put in front of him. So they feed him twice a day. I knew another who would feed her schnauzer only once a day. In one breath, that dog would have it devoured. That was terrible to see. Always seemed that she would choke.

Ask it's parents. I would imagine they have it on a schedule & proper food.
I have grown dog, she eats 2 times a day. Morning & Evening about the time I do Breakfast & Dinner. This is what my Vet advised instead of the 1 meal a day. Aslo plenty of fresh clean water.
