There is NO truth whatsoever to the statement that you can get cancer from sleeping with your cat.
I have slept with my cats my entire life, and the only problem I've had is them deciding to play with my feet at 2am.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE do not put any faith in this false statement.
The only bad that can come from it is allergies, and you would have those before.

Animals can not give you cancer im a nurse and have never heard of this. As for sleeping with a cat I see no problem with it. I currently own dogs or rather they own me both sleep in my bed. I had a cat a few years ago but he passed away from feline leukemia and he slept in my bed until the day he passed. As long as you are comfortable with it don't let anyone tell you how to live your life and enjoy your animals.

My current cats are 8 years old and have slept every night with me. I have no clue who told you about getting cancer from cats...this is how stupid information gets passed along. That is absurd. If cancer were contagious in that way, I think the planet would be doomed. I haven't caught worms from them...at least I don't see any on me. I don't have fleas. I smoke, so I have a good chance of getting lung cancer, but I'm not going to blame it on my cats...unless they start smoking too.
So you have had cats for 17 years? What did you catch from them? The only thing you caught from them was their love and affection.
Here is something I just wrote to another questioner:
Gawd, yes! I am glad your cat loves you well enough to sleep with you, rather than running away from you. I have 2 grown cats (8 years old) who are brothers and grew up together. There has never been a night when they are not sleeping with me. It is comical to watch them push and shove to see who gets the closest. Blinky likes my shoulders, and Stinky likes anyplace else that Blinky doesn't push him away from. It takes about 10 minutes each night, but I can't fall asleep without knowing they are there. So, they are more of a comfort to me than I am to them...I think. Plus during the winter I don't have to use an electric blanket. Cuts down on the electric bill!

Well, I don't think so, but if it does, the researchers will have a huge crop of people to study! All of my cats sleep on the bed at one time or another during the night, and I have no fear of cancer. I think you are far more likely to get something from the environment that we pollute, or the food that we warp. So keep snuggling the kitty, and don't stress!
PS - studies have shown that having a pet actually reduces stress and lowers blood pressure, so there is more info for having your cat!

The cancer thing is absolutely ridiculous. There is no harm at all in sleeping with your cat. Mine has been doing it for 17 years and nobody has suffered any ill effects at all.

On the contrary cats are healing creatures. I know because I volunteer with my dog at hospitals to visit the patients. The cats and dogs both at the clinics have been known to help the mood and health of the patients. It works the same way with the pet owner. Sleep with you cat as much as you like.

our cats sleep with us every night, maybe not the whole night they come and go. but they have to always have access to us. one usually sleeps between my feet and the other one has been sleeping on my arm lately, sometimes we share a pillow, though he tends to think it's his pillow so I will sometimes wake up with him pushing my head off the pillow. lol! I have never heard the thing about getting cancer from a cat sleeping in your bed.

I'm pretty certain your cat can't give you cancer. The only way for your cat to give you cancer would be to give you a cancer causing virus and the only two viruses thought to cause cancer aren't transmitted by cats.
