You may find this site useful, it lists all child care providers and shows their Ofsted reports which will give you an idea of how good they are.

They vary in price, some are charities and a bit cheaper but you do get involved with more fund raising events and selling raffle tickets etc. For a creche, they will generally only take children while you are in a leisure centre or shop and you are not able to leave the area. These may be cheaper but have a time limit. Playschools usually are for a morning or afternoon and would probably cost about £5-10 per hour.

From the term after your child turns 3, you receive Government funding and are able to have up to 5 sessions a week either free or at a reduced cost, depending on how much the pre-school playgroup costs.
