I know with any type of weight training in which someone is trying to bulk up, the muscles need a day of rest to regenerate so you can actually build muscles. So if you're doing 200 pushups per day everyday, that could possibly keep you from actually building up muscles.

Without seeing you in person the question is meaningless. Bo Jackson used to.

To build muscle you follow the simple progession of increased weight (at exercise) as your body adapts.

AND you eat a lot of protein

Must be a kid,

Thanks,
Buster

It depends. To make your muscles grow you need the proper schedule of exercise, rest, and proper nutrition. If you exercise too much all at once you can damage your muscles (exertional rhabdomyolysis).

Talk to an athletic trainer if you want the best program for your own personal goals.

200 push ups in one night is probably a bit excessive. You're more likely to hurt yourself doing sustained repetitive exercises like that. When it comes to exercise and healthy living variety is key.
