Sometimes they only tell half a story to make fit their agenda. An example of this is the Camp Penalten marines who were just recently charged with killing an Iraqi and planting evidence. They were before the news report not charged and locked up in solitary confinment. Where were they then?

Telling the whole story takes time, work, and space. Most importantly, there is a strong belief in most of the media that most Americans will turn away from in-depth news coverage in favor of cheap sensationalism (so the "whole story" won't sell). There's also a "gotcha" mentality in much of the media; that is, that their role is to "get" powerful people and institutions and bring them down, as opposed to simply providing the people with important information.

For the most part, the media agenda is not "liberal" but simply shallow. "If it bleeds, it leads."

The media in the USA does not print anything that does not directly or indirectly affect the economy of the USA unless it is something "cute" about some kid.... and even more rare is it something about another country... we are kept in the dark as far as what is happening around the world by our media leaders....

by the way.. I think those people who decide what we want to see and hear about... have the same mindset as the losers in Detroit who are having trouble selling their low quality, gas guzzling products... they don't listen to the people.. unless those people are rich.... but.. the rich don't buy as many cars and trucks as the poor do.... nor do they watch as much television.. or read as many papers.

(the reason is... there are millions more poor than there are rich)

well think of it this way. if the news has 2 miniuts to tell a story and they can tell the story of
-1,000 iraqi civillians were accidentily killed today
OR
-500 iraqi soliders were killed today

which makes America look better...

the media will never allow you to know the full truth, only their version of the truth
