I agree with all the other answers on here and just wanted to add what I saw on a bumper sticker recently: "God save me from your followers". It sums it up pretty well. The followers in the news aren't following God. It's their own agendas of hate.

Those sites are not put up by true Christians. Instead they are the work of the "tares" that the Devil has sown in God's kingdom to bring reproach upon the name of Christ.
Matthew 13:36 Then Jesus sent the multitude away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field. 37 He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man; 38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; 39 The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. 40 As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of this world.
Tares are poisonous weeds that look just like wheat until it gets near harvest time. In the same way these poisonous counterfeit Christians have a way of making decent people feel sick when they are exposed to their venom.

I find them terribly offensive and patently unChristian. When people can't tell the difference between a serious Christian statement of belief and some posting by a member of a group of lunatics, it's definitely time to call the site and its "theology" into question. Based on the Biblical stories of Jesus' behavior toward those in the scorned sectors of society, I think these people have it all wrong and have a lot to answer for.

I am a Christian and I do believe in defending my religious beliefs. But I don't believe in forcing my religion down other people’s throats.
I must admit that there are many Christians who believe that bluntness and hate are the way to defend their faith, and I must admit I have been (and still am occasionally) guilty of the same thing. Unfortunately Christians are still human and we do stupid things, just like everyone else.
God doesn't hate America and Fags.... he hates sin. I have committed many sins against god in my time, before and after I met him. In fact, I have committed sins knowing that he wouldn't like it, just to piss him off because I was angry at him. In my eyes and maybe in the worlds eyes, my sin is worse because I know what I'm doing is wrong.... I have been blatantly defiant. But god doesn’t see it that way…. All sin is sin in his eyes. The man who has committed adultery against his oblivious wife is still in much need of forgiveness as the man in goal for killing someone.
The way I see it, the Christian’s behind the websites are committing the sin of hate and judgement, to put into light the sins of another. It is none of there business…. It is gods business.

I feel that it demotes christianity. God certainly does not hate people, if he did, the bible wouldn't be here, nor would he have sent his son to die on the cross. Think of it this way, we are all children of God. A mentally healthy parent would not hate his/her child. I know he'd find more favor in some than in others, but the bottom line is, God hates people's sins.. not the sinner

I have seen the sites you mentioned in your post and I was livid, to say the least. These people have caused more harm to the Christian community than anyone I can think of.
I read extensively on the sites and they really sound like they have been brainwashed by the pastor of the church. Really freaky, almost Koresh-like.

I hate to do this, but let's relate it to terrorism compared to Muslims.
The people who created these websites must not realize that the Bible says to love all. God loves everyone. He does not love the sins people are involved with, but he does love the person, or nation in the second case.
People tend to link terrorism and Muslims together, but the truth is, Muslim terrorists are actually disobeying the Koran.
These Chrisians are not following the Bible, and clearly need to rethink their ideas.
That's what I think.

Christians are not to criticize anybody. I would call it judging. These so called (hypocrite) Christians will stand before God someday.
I'm a Christian and I see a lot of things I don't understand, however all I can do is pray about it.

Those sites you listed are made by one group, the Westboro Baptist Church, run by Fred Phelps and his family.
These are the same people who protest Gay Pride parades, Gay funerals and funerals of our fallen soldiers.
They're anything but Christians, they're disturbed.
On their website they even show little children proudly wearing t-shirts proclaiming their hatred.
That is ANYTHING but Christ-like!
Thankfully, I own the "Lake O'Fire Real Estate" company, at least I know I'll have a perfect group of investers soon enough!!

Well, first off, these folks are condemned by just about every Christian ministry that I'm aware of. It's hard to minister to folks if you shut the door in their face with rhetoric.
Fred Phelps, who pastors this church is one angry dude, and amazingly enough, was sought by Al Gore in the 1988 Kansas Democratic Primary. True! (And we thought all those liberals are "tolerant.")
