Pray and ask God.

Jesus dealt with this question in two ways. There are some things that God intends to be timeless (like principles regarding marriage and divorce). There are also some things that were given in part, so that a more complete picture could be painted later (a.k.a. "progressive revelation").

So...the Bible is anachronous in some ways ("love your neighbor") but not in others ("cross over the Jordan").

Anachronistic? Is this what you mean? anachronistic, meaning that things are severely out of place in it? What are you trying to ask?
And if you are insinuating that the Bible has errors in it, you're wrong. The bible is divinely inspired from God and the only 'errors' in it are mistranslations from the men that have translated it poorly. Namely those that did such a poor job of it in the King James Version.

Do you mean old, or without relevance.

It is old. But it is very relevant. Are you reading a current day version? Like the NIV or the TNIV.

it's a great search engine to look up passages in the bible and the web site has lots of info on the Bible
