The damage to the skin from the needle can create this. It's like a bruise inside the tissue. It should go down in about 5 days. The longest I've seen last is 2 weeks. If you put a warm compress on it, it will go down faster, and don't rub or push on it, which will make it worse.

Put a heating pad or hot water bottle on the place you were injected. The penicillin may not have dispersed as it should have. This happened to me after getting a tetnis shot.

PCN is so thick and it can leave a lump for a week or so but it will go away, if not ask your doctor. Moist heat might help. It should not be hurting bad a scale 1-10 1 being none and 10 being excruciating, if it is 7 or over call your dr and let him evaluate you.

That's normal. Put a warm compress on it. If the swelling doesn't go down in a day or two, call your Doctor. It will usually work itself out in a day. Take some Tylenol for the pain.

I have this same issue but it s been exactly 60 days since the shot. The needle hole is still there and it went from nickel size around the hole to now a whopping mini cd size. Hurts like heck. Feels like it s on fire.

How long has it been since you got the shot?
You may be having an allergic reaction to it. Call the nurse's helpline to find out if you should take any action.
