Alot of people think God has not given us power to shape our destinies. Surely he leads the way but it is up to us to choose. Follow-up question: Do you think our destinies are written in stone?

contrary to popular belief, logic is a crucial part of the Christian faith.

if you do not believe me, read up on the many books CS Lewis has written, and tell me there is no logic in the Christian faith. if you do, and prove me wrong, i will believe you. but since i know that you won't, i will not believe you.

addressing destinies--- no, we choose what we do and where we go. He already knows what you will do, for He is outside of the dimension of time, but you have the free will to choose what you do. Stuff like this is too hard for anyone to fully comprehend, but there are logical proofs that prove Christianity and that are much more sound than evolution's logic

i'm not sure if this complies with evolution's reasoning, but this is one thing i heard:
if evolution is true, then transitional species exist. Transitional species exist, therefore evolution is true.
This is an absurd and invalid argument. i will show you why:
this is a parallel argument, replacing only the objects.

if it is a car, then it has four wheels. it has four wheels, therefore it is a car.
but wait- skateboards have four wheels- are they cars?

why do we not use logic in evolutionary theory?

Destiny is something that let's people be comfortable with whatever they want to do. It is an excuse; so long as they claim that what will be will be, they are not responsible for their actions. Logic should be a large part in religion--and that should be something children are taught from an early age. . . The questions must be asked of them--Is there a God? It is a he or she? Is there just the One, or are there more? How should I worship him? What happens after I die?--So that everyone may choose their own path and perhaps some prejudices can be smoothed.

God has called us into a specific destiny and yes it's up to us to chose it. God gave us brains to contemplate, meditate, figure out etc. But I have noticed that our logic often gets in the way of our relationship with God. That's why they say things like "Just trust God" and "take a step of faith" becuase it's in those moments of 'un-logicness' where we can really see what God has for us.

Wasn't the "forbidden fruit " from the tree of Knowledge, Did God not want his people to be smart? Destinies are not written in stone . But our fate ? don't know.

We all have free will. God knows our heart conditions and whether or not we are true to him in our hearts. But he does want us to think things out and to reason on things, else he would never have given us reasoning ability. And in a world like today withso many confusing and misleading options out there, of course he wants us to use our brains and thinking abilities! Why else would he have created us with such wonderful minds?? Our destinies are not writen in stone, they are open ahead of us for us to make with our own personal decisions. We are all free moral agents with the choices to change our lives available to us. God would hope that we would make the decision to serve him out of love for him for what he has given us. But for those that don't, that is their problem and their loss. Yes, it saddens Him, but he can't MAKE people love him.

Are you asking about how logic should be used in a religion that teaches about a talking donkey, a talking snake in a utopian garden, a sea splitting in half so a bunch of people could walk through it, the sun and moon standing still in the sky, a man being whisked away to heaven in a flaming chariot, a guy being super-strong because of his long hair, and a man walking on water, changing water to wine, raising dead people to life, and floating up to heaven like a hot-air balloon?

Alrighty, then. ¬_¬

Logic is great.... religion challenges you to put it aside, despite what you may think and have faith. Thats why there is the saying "leap of faith"..... you trust what you cant see or feel or prove.... you just believe in it.

I dont believe destiny is written in stone. we are given free will

I don't know if our life's been planned or of whats to come, but God does shape our destiny in many ways.

God gave us a free will to do as we please, but he wants us to want to please him. To do as he would do. To treat others as we wish to be treated. To love him with all our mind, all our body and all our soul. And to love other as we love ourselves.

Example, if a person does something with God in his heart and inspiration then God IS touching us and help shaping our destiny.

Religious people don't fear knowledge they fear reason and rationalization They feel that people will rationalize their actions both good and bad, thus leaving out God

I happen to be a Christian. But I believe that now-a-days, most people need to be taught logic. It isn't being taught in the home much anymore.

I continually try to get my kids to think logically, and objectively.

For instance, we don't hold onto silly scientific theories that have not succeeded in attaining the criteria that the theorist set up for it to be true......
