I use AutoCAD. You can create a lot of 3D stuff in it. It is used for construction drawings, city planning, even in courtroom presentations. AutoCAD is the construction industry standard, and any work that you submit to the US Government must be able to be read by AutoCAD.

Studio Max is the standard. You can create your objects in AutoCAD and then import them into Studio Max.
