Guys, suppose you had met a girl about 2yrs ago and knew she was totally in love with you and tried to make things work but for whatever reason they didn’t. A year later you got a gf not knowing how the other girl still felt about you, she said it was fine, but not totally convincing. You guys talked still talked for a while but then stopped. Why a year later would you be interested in finding out about how the girl is. I mean you have your gf and are happy so why would you want to go poking at the past? Why not leave it as is? Especially since it had a twisted and confusing ending...

Well I don't know if all guys are like this, but I personaly am a guy who likes to know "what would have happened had..." But in this case, I think that girl would have been one of my good friends, as I did try to work things out but all did not go as planned. If I started talking to her again after 1 year, then I would most likely be doing it for catching up incase we didn't talk for a while.
Everyone would be doing it for a different reason and it all depends on how good the relation was before the girlfriend. For all I know, if I was the guy, I might start talking to that girl again, because my passion for her was re-ignited again, and that does happen when ex's make up.
A couple of other reasons could be:
-The guy is doing it now to make the girl feel more pain
-The guy regrets not choosing the first girl
-The guy is happy with his GF, but just wants to make sure that the girl is still doing fine.
Like I said before, it all depends on the previous relationship

The guy is just playing the field and is checking if you would be interested in rekindling a relationship. Maybe he had a fight with his girl or is bored and looking for excitement.
It sounds like your heart is hoping he'll eventually dump the girl and come running back to you. However, you must use your brain on this and tell him you cared for him a long time ago and you have moved on and don't wish to see him anymore.
Don't be the other woman in his life and don't rekindle a friendship that can lead to a booty call. When this guy is totally single and ready to see only you is when he should be allowed to enter your life again.

Because he cares about you still. Not sure why the relationship ended but there must have been something there for him that he still has fond memories of. I have done that, i have an ex girlfriend who i think of from time to time and ask her brother how she is doing every now and again, because we had some very good times together, unfortunately there were some serious compatiblity issues at hand that ended the relationship. I sometimes forget about why i broke up though and i will always care for her even if we are not together.

Ego. No matter how happy you are, you love the idea that someone out there is longing for you, makes you feel good. Or could be, getting an urge to have some fun on the side and figures you might be an easy opening.

well i am a victim of such a case...
i have a girl now... but yesterday i called up the girl whom i loved in the past... actually the only girl whom i loved the most..... just to know as to where she is and all that......
even though we didn't have contact for months together... i still feel for her... just becos i loved her a lot...
if a person loves someone more than his ownself, he will call that girl from past, just to know how she is... even though he is well satisfied with his own girl... simple reason that she enjoys the space that no one can ever get..... but this actually happens in rare conditions....... and may be the guy didnt love you as much........ it all depends on the type of relationship that existed between you two.......

I think it will be hard for him to break back into your heart ? but then again maybe the reason he walked in the first place was because you were all consuming of his being with you and he had no chance of testing the water out there. Well, it seems he may have done this now and realises you are the one. Time for you to test him out a bit if you are still quivering. :)

He cared for you at one point and those feelings probably havent gone away even though there most likely not on as serious of a level as before. If you guys didnt leave on a sour note then he probably genuinely just wants to know how you are doing.

1.He simply wants to know. It's a hole in his past that he wants to fill in.
2.He is not quite so happy in his relationship as you think. If fact, he is thinking of breaking up with her...but he does not want to be left high and dry. So he is seeing if there is anything going on with you, so he can dump her and go out with you.
3.They have decided to have an open relationship where they can see other people too.
4.He simply wants to cheat on her, and remembers that you like him, so..
