I'm 17. I just got engaged and I still have a year left of high school. I don't plan on getting married until I'm like 21. My dad's girlfriend keeps planning out my wedding, and she was planning my boyfriends life. Telling him that they're going to open a shop together and I'm going to do all the paper work. I really don't want want her help but I don't know how to tell her. She loves to help when no one really needs help. I hate when people help me without me asking them too. I want to do this planning on my own because I want things the way I want them! It's my wedding!

Have her read this "by accident" or just talk to her. She won't and can't know how you feel unless you tell her. Good luck.

Tell her very sweetly that you appreciate all of her suggestions, ideas and such and as soon as you AND your fiance start the actual planning of YOUR wedding that you would love her input. Let her know that you have been writing down all your ideas and hers too, so that when the time comes you and your fiance will have a lot of ideas to choose from. Hopefully she will get the message. Try speaking with your dad about the issue - he may be able to help rein her in.Good luck!

Tell her IT'S YOUR WEDDING. You can't really plan effectively that far ahead, you don't know what will happen between now and then, you don't know what stuff you'll like then, prices of venues etc will change.
I planned my wedding in 3 months, 3 years is a little too much time!

Sounds like she's hoping to be planning her own wedding. I think she's all talk (as far as opening a shop)...she's a dreamer.....ignore her plans and if she buys something, just tell her you don't really like it or that you haven't started planning your wedding yet. She'll get the hint.

I was having such a good time when I was 17....even better when I was 18, 19, 20, 21....why??? I wasn't tied down with kids, husband, debt etc. etc. Life was sooooo good. I learned about ME and I learned about the world and I learned what I REALLY wanted in MY life without the influence of others (heavy boyfriends,fiances or husbands....it was FABULOUS ! You have probably another 60 years to get all responsible and look after others....now is the time to look after yourself !
RETURN THE RING !!!!!

You've got over 3 years before you get married. A lot can happen until then. But in the meantime let her knock herself out making plans, but when you set the date YOU & HIM should make the real plans. This isn't her wedding or her life, if you're old enough to get married you have to be old enough to tell her thanks but no thanks about everything.

ah ... reading this.. i just realized that she does care about you.. she's also worried because you guys are young so she's trying help out.. instead of her saying " the shop is here if you guys need jobs" she's just telling you what you're going to do . lol. she doesn't know how to say you want some? She just knows how to say " HEre you go and you're going to takeit " lol. ! woah. But yea... let her know that you have things planned already and thank her but tell her that your boyfriend and you want to plan it together but be sure to thank her so she won't feel bad.... but yea.. why are you getting married so early? :) Woah.. hope things work out : )

This sounds like a bad movie. Before things get any more weird, explain to her that her assistance is not required. You can do this in a polite manner. Otherwise, it's like lots of movies that have been made. Anger erupts, hurt feelings, frustration,resentment and uncomfortable silences.

Tell your dads girlfriend and your dad that this is your wedding not theirs and you want it the way you want it. If you start lettin them run your life now, they will not stop. The weddin is your day. Remember that is is your day....

I suggest you calmly tell your dad and her girlfriend your feelings. Just make sure some of your resentment isn't because it's your dad's girlfriend. If it isn't, then say so and tell her what she does mean to you, that is, if you really do like her.
