Just tell him. That is the only way you will know if he feels the same way. You can even tell him that you want to be honest but don't want if affecting your friendship.

Funny enough, I had the same problem. I met him on my flag football team and was best buds with him for 4 years. That last year was my denial year where everybody would ask if I was dating him, and I started realizing that I liked him and wanted more in our relationship, but I didn't want to start something and have him hate me for life because of some stupid argument we'd have if we ever dated. So, I never made a move. Months later, HE made the move by asking me out. Apparently he's liked me for the four years that I've known him. My theory of dating is that the real purpose of it is to get to know the person (who they are, their personality, likes, dislikes, etc), as friends, you have already overcome that obstacle. Guys give small hints as to whether or not they like a girl, try finding these signs. If hint of them show up, try making the move. From what it sounds like, your situation seems to be very similar to mine, and chances are that if people are asking if you're dating, he IS giving off some of these hints. Nervous? Worse case scenario is that he says no. As much as this seems like the end of the world, if he really is your friend, he wouldn't let that phase him as much as you'd think. Life moves on, and it'll give him something to think about. He may be in that denial stage that I was in, but he may be having the same feelings. It sounds like a gamble, but in the relationship that the two of you share, the odds are in your favor.

Ask him if he wants to go to the movies... and if he makes a weird face, quickly say as friends. If he does amke a weird face it was never meant to be and he doesn't like you back. But if he doesn't make a weird face, hope that he says yes.

The only reason a man ever hangs around a woman is because he wants her as his girlfriend. Simply say, "Hey, I want to be your girlfriend". And he'll take it from there.

flirt with him a little more, just tell him out right. my female friend just told me that she wanted to be more than friends, I told her I don't think it would be a good idea, she said ok, nothing has changed.
