This section of Yahoo Answers, is not really an question and answer page at all, it's an argument section. That's all it is. I've seen some of the most stupid and intelligent arguments on here than anywhere else, except maybe for presidential elections. I thought we were here to ask questions, but all we are doing is making everyone angry with everyone else. I am a christian and are thereby commanded to spread the word of God, but almost everyone on here who is not already a christian doesn't want to listen to it. Athiests, evolutionists, humanists, christians, catholics, Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and everyone else in between is here, just to argue. The question is, is it worth it, just to get everyone angry at eachother?

Of course not! You are right, everyone gets on here to argue and push their own viewpoint, no matter what that might be. I would rather see real questions and answers.

I don't think I would consider it arguing. It's more of a debate from all sides of the spectram. One person suggests something from their point of view and another from another point. The person asking the question serious or not, sits there and thinks what answer might be best for them. Maybe it's an answer that they never even considered to begin with. A debate and an argument are two completely different things. I don't think too many people are getting angry over answers that are being left. This is the internet most things being said in an offensive manner should be taken with a grain of salt

Well, since this is Yahoo! Answers this really isn't a forum for spreading our belief is it? The way I understood it, it was if you've had a relevant question and you didn't know the answer, viola! This was the place to come. If you want to preach, knock on someones door, the fact that your actually getting out in the neighborhood and putting yourself in the same venue that Jesus used will impress many, it will anger many also. WWJD? Go door to door. He walked and preached, not got on the net and preached at people who were there for other reasons!

I like how you classify "evolutionists" as a seperate religion...

Seriously, it is possible to spread the word of God without insulting everyone; the problem is that most people seem too self-righteous to try or too ignorant to realize that they need to. Nobody is going to convert people by telling them they're wrong and damned to hell for all eternity. This is a forum, not a pulpit.

Dear Sean,

There are a small minority of individuals who are willing to listen (and so the effort is worthwhile).

I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ.

For a draft-version of my journey from atheism to Christ, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html

There were many Christians who patiently answered my questions and/or who directed me to apologetics resources which addressed questions I had... these over a period of time reduced my intellectual barriers against Christianity and enabled me ultimately to commit my life to Christ (heart, mind and soul).

Consider Prof Anthony Flew -- a hard-headed atheist for 50 years... through the patient witness of Christians, he has now come to the conclusion that there is a God (he is now a Deist, not a Christian yet).

So, apologetics can be hard work; and it can be frustrating dealing with skeptics; but every now and then, a life will be touched for Christ.

Be encouraged in what you do.

Our job is not to convert anyone. Our job is to sow the seed of the good news of Jesus Christ (using apologetics when needed) and to leave the results to God.

May your day be blessed with the Love, Joy and Peace of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Cordially,
John

In the midst of all of that anger you can sometimes find someone or some answer that makes you reevaluate your position on these things, or at least helps you expand your understanding of it. The reason I engage in debates in this area is to better learn the opposing views, not to hate them, but to learn from them...

It might take some digging to find that...but it's worth it...

On one hand all have to accept your opinion. But there are few who asks proper questions and they get valuable answers. Ignore those 100 stupid questions and its answers and go to that one question and its answer. Take it this way that all are not equals. People varies - thoughts varies - and so the questions and answers.

Is it worth it...dont know but it can be entertaining for a while, then it gets boring. I'm not saying I do that, but it sure seems some people are on here just to start s&*t.

Why would I want to listen to your BS "spread the word of god" crap, when you don't want to listen to what I have to say? That's why this is mostly an argument section.

Have you ever thought that it's the other way around? In actuality, it is you who do not wish to listen to us? And you, with the clogged ears? And you, who just wants to argue and persist to be right?

You're quite the hypocrite, young man.
