I am involved in leadership at my local church. My pastor is having a VERY hard time right now. He and his family are feeling overwhelmed and he's doubting his call because of this. I'll be meeting with them tomorrow. Even if you don't have an answer, please pray.

OK, I'll pray, but I think the keyword here is delegation. Pastors have to give so much to their church communities that sometimes families come second. There needs to be some sharing of responsibilties and allowing others to minister. Perhaps if you identified some of the problem areas and prayed about it, some people might come to mind who, under his leadership, could take some things off your Pastor's hands and make things happen, and then allow him to attend to the most serious and important matters. In one parish I lived in, our priest had set up family groups who met and prayed together and offered each other support. These groups started to handle a lot more of the pastoral care oe that used to be totally the priest's role, although he was always informed of how things were going. Nominal leaders for each family group would meet with him regularly. The groups were usually, but not always, based on geography, e.g. street clusters. It really built the faith community.

I always hear that a Pastor's job is really hard but I have had a terrible hard job for 20 years and seem to stick to it. I wish I could understand why a Pastor feels overwhelmed. Actually, I wish that I was a Pastor.
I will pray for your pastor.

Best thing to do is uphold your Pastor in prayer! Prayer unleashes the power of God and allows God to work in your situation. Being there for your pastor calling them to let them know you would like to help in anyway possible would also let them know you are praying for them would be encouraging. Bringing freinds to church is encouraging to a pastor. Being in a leadership role sometimes means you have to take the initiative to make things happen. Difficult times come and go but if we remain faithful through them we will receive that Crown in Glory if we faint not. Most of all let them know they are loved!

I will pray for your pastor and his family and ask the Lord to make His will known in no uncertain terms. Remember how reluctant Moses was? I don't know if the pastor was led to the ministry or not but the fact that he's feeling overhwhelmed does not necessarily mean that he made the wrong choice.

Lucky Me,

Gods work is very stressful - I thought my life was stressful until I read about Jesus spending His whole days helping others. He would only get a short period of time alone - the rest of the time He was helping others in all the ways He could.

Just remind your pastor of the old saying: "Working for the Lord doesn't pay much but the retirement plan is out of this world"

Hope things work out Lucky Me!

I too am involved in leadership at my church also so I clearly understand what they are going through!......The first thing to do is seek God for answers.....I suggest you pray according to ( Romans 8: 26).....and the Holy Spirit will guide you as to what to do or say to be a great encouragment to them in their time of need!.......believe me they are going to need it!......keep in mind my precious sister in Christ that Born Again Believers are always in Spiritual Warfare, but GOD has the Answers & Solutions!...Please Read (Eph. 6: 10- 18)....apply GOD'S Word to the situation....It Works Everytime if you're in right standing with GOD!......share this with your Pastor, I'm sure your Pastor will agree!......Myself as well as other prayer warriors will be praying for you and your Pastors!.......ps. you will have the right words to say to them at the meeting!........GOD Bless You!.......

luckyme, all I can say is, my heart goes out. when you meet with them tomorrow, just be as nice and supportive as possible.
think of little things you can do to help them, maybe help with secretarial duties, offer to babysit their kids, offer to clean the church for free. offer to help in anyway you can.
if you feel he's being a good pastor, tell him. you could also get other church members to sign a petition or a card or something, to show how much they like him.
