i am not going to lie to you it hurts! Your back, legs, lower belly, and your private area. I have two children age 5 and 7 and i still remember. I tried to do it natural, but it hurt i eventually got an epidural and girl....let me tell you it helped i sail thru the rest of child birth, and i still got and episodomy because my son was too big and i push too fast and my daugther rip me and i needed stitches. So that's my advice. I was in labor for 36 hrs with my first and 11 hours with my second. GOOD LUCK GIRL.

First, congratulations! I spent months worrying about labor during my first pregnancy. Worry, of course, does not help, but preparation does. Read up on the labor/delivery process, as well as you can. Thinking of contractions as positive steps to having the baby helps tremendously. Be as educated as you can. Lamaze or other child birth classes can help this as well. Fear of the unknown just adds to the stress. EVERY pregnancy and birth/labor is difference, and everyone's pain tolerance is different also. I will not lie to you, I had four children and I have never experienced pain so intense; it was no picnic. However, I did use relaxation and deep breathing techniques and different positions that helped as well as counter pressure. In the end I asked for pain relief as well, which is fine. You may look into getting an epidural (spinal block) in the next few months , as new moms say that they are a God send, almost completely blocking the pain. I never had one, but if I ever have another child... it will be on my list, haha... Rest assured, you will do just fine. My best wishes.

The book "What to expect..." suggested earlier is great. Check with your local hospital about lamaze classes and maybe some other classes you can take.
If you doctor tells you it's ok, check out yoga - stretch those leg muscles and keep yourself in shape. That will help you get through labor and delivery with less pain before, during, and after.
I played a music box for my baby before she was born - put it right against my belly... it helped BOTH of us relax. When she was only 2 days old, she would get quiet and pay attention to that music box! You can do the same thing, listen to music and put a pair of headphones on your belly. Sounds weird, but they can hear an awful lot after a certain point.

I took Lamaze class with all three of my kids, most hospitals offer it. I am not a believer in pain meds, and epidurals when you are pregnant. the risks always out weigh the benefits. However here is my secret, well besides breathing, Listen to every scary horrible story any woman tells you about labor, I was so freaked out when I went to deliver my first, and when it was done I laughed. I said the my nurse "that was it?" I was so scared over nothing. It is also beneficial to know that If you receive any pain meds while in labor, it will slow it down and make it more difficult to push. There fore suck it up, bear down, and git er done!

That is normal for the first trimester. You will feel pain but it only hurts for a little while then it goes away after you see that precious babe in your arms. If you choose to have an epidural you will not feel the pain but it might take you longer to push the baby out. Talk to your doctor about your options and decide then. Your first baby usually is the scariest but after awhile everything will fall into place for you and motherhood is a wonderful experience. I should know I have one daughter and a beautiful grandson who I helped bring into this world. I think you you will do just fine.

If you ever had cramps when you were on your period. That's how they start to feel every few minutes and then it just gets stronger and stronger after your about 5 to 6 cm dilating it gets worse. But be strong we ladies can handle and take more pain then men can. And if it wasn't true then the men would be having babies. If you have anymore questions feel free to email me. cuz i just had my first child less that to months ago and was in labor for 4 hours with no pain medication.

Don't worry and enjoy your pregnancy to its fullest! You passed the First Trimester and that's a good sign, now relax I know it can be overwhelming, it's been 5 years for me since. Get a book "What to expect when you're expecting" that book really answered most of my pregnancy question. Congratulations and good luck!!!

it's different for different women. It depends on how high your pain threshold is. Some women have no probs sailling through naturally, while others beg for epidurals. don't freak out about it, though. Fear of pain can actually produce pain. If it is really bothering you, try a prenatal yoga, meditation, prayer or whatever helps to relax you.
