How does that work?

Well, I don't have any arms or legs because of a great white shark attack. I have a trained monkey who types for me. The monkey is blind and uses a seeing eye dog...but the dog is deaf and depends on the monkey to interpret sign language for him. Sometimes we all get confused.

What the Post Office sign really means is...

(I will have to answer your question later. The monkey just fell down and can't get up and the dog can't hear him screaming. And I can't dial 911 because I don't have any arms or legs.)

I'm pretty sure you've misread the sign. I believe it indicates that the only animals allowed in the USPS are service animals such as seeing eye dogs. I have been to Post Offices all over the country and the rule is the same because of the ADA rules

That doesn't work, that's illegal to not allow a service dog into a public place. The only thing I can think of that maybe why it's posted is if you have another discriminiation type thing happening with an employee who is severely allergic to dogs, you might get around no animals allowed that way but it would be a toss up on discrimination, and disabilities between the blind and the allergic.

There certainly shouldn't be - usually they say "ONLY seeing eye dogs allowed". And that is not correct either. Federal Law allows all properly trained service animals (hearing dogs, wheelchair assistance dogs, etc) to accompany their handicapped owners everywhere - even into hotels and restaurants. NO local "health codes" can override that law. Tell the Postmaster to change his sign!

I have not read the entire thing, but I would guess that the situation you describe would go against the Americans with Disability act.

first off, that would be discrimination! call a state representative...

second... there would be no POSSIBLE way for a blind person to read the sign to begin with huh?
