For christians, Christ is the ideal. He is the perfect example of what man is. To be "christlike" is a goal. Only achievable by grace. Nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes. He got nailed to the cross for being perfect. I'd rather screw up.

I agree with you. Some where a long Christian history people started making up stricter rules that really shouldn't exist in the religion of Christianity. Christ was accepting of all God's children, he just wasn't in acceptance of their sins, but he was willing to forgive them for their sins. He just didn't cast them away into the fires of hell. Christians today are so old fashioned that they've started to judge and condemn people which they have no right to do. It is no human beings right to judge and condemn someone to hell. All the judging and condemning should be left to God. That's one thing that gets on my nerves about some Christians is their quickness to judge, they accept that as their right and it's not. A perfect example is a catholic priest or the Pope, what right does he have to sit down with someone and forgive them for their sins, that's God's job. So that's why I think that some Christians are so unlike Christ. By the way I'm a Christian.

He also forgave sinners and also told them to go and sin no more.
He also chased the money changers from the temple, so those that did go to far where forced into correction.
He also did not teach that all people were saved, he taught they had to accept him.
He was really against alot of our social programs, if you don't work you don't eat, ( no free welfare without working)
He did not heal everyone, only those that accepted him and beleived in him, ( so no overall free medical care)
He told us there would be poor always, and he did not feed everyone all the time, only those that followed him and then only after a couple of days.
And he called those that did not accept him a pit of vipers and so on.
So yes I think many of the Christians today do more than Christ would have asked of them
You need to re-read your bible on what Christ really did and what he really said, ( not just a few verses but all the verses)
And concemning can be looked at, as trying to correct the persons improper sinful nature, ( we are told to correct one another, even bring another in front of the chuch if they do not correct thier actions.

Ouch, unfortunately there is a ring of truth in what you say. Please do not assume that "all" of any group of people can be categorized and fit under one blanket statement. Most Christians are unlike Christ because we are human and although we should try to live and love as Christ did, we sometimes fail miserably.
I saw a great bumper-sticker that read, "the only perfect Christian is a dead Christian." At first, I was shocked and offended, but then I laughed and agreed. Although I can and should continue to try to be Christ-like, I will only be completely free of sin after I have died and have entered into eternity. Please be patient, God isn't finished with me yet.

I think that's the point of Revelation. The older society excluded everyone, except the few they approved of. But, that applies to all society, religion, and politics. Sometimes I say things here, 'like abortion is wrong', that makes people feel judged. But I assure you, that I don't look down on the person, because I'm not God, not even a saint. It just has to be said, that's all...

We must fail and look bad sometimes. And I see some people who are either CHRISTian or say they are CHRISTian that say things that are kind of harsh, especially on Yahoo! but, this is actually a very SMALL percentage of the CHRISTian culture.
You will see more people talking about how CHRISTians just want people to die then you will actually see supposed CHRISTians saying that.
I for one (as a CHRISTian) feel offended when someone else seems to be condemning or throwing stones at people when they could be throwing stones at themselves.
But attending several churches (three) and having many CHRISTian friends from around the world, I would have to say that condemnational CHRISTians make up about 5% max of the CHRISTian population. They, at times, just seem to be the loudest.
Hope that helps you.

Jesus is God. We are not. I see also a lot of people condemning Christians. It is not an easy way to be a Christian. I see a lot of hateful things even here on Yahoo. Non-believers are constantly asking if this is a sin or do I go to hell If I do not belive in your God or what would Jesus do???etc...And then when we answer, oi oi oi, Christians are bad people who are messing with people's peace etc. Well, Jesus does not call qualifieds, He qualifies the called ones. His is the only way, and we want to follow where that way is going...we get sidetracket, there is detours, accidents, red lights, green lights etc. We try to keep our eyes on the goal, target, and to deal with ostackles as they come...but it is not easy. At least we are trying.

If you study Scripture thoroughly, you will see that is not the ONLY example He left.
He called the scribes and Pharisees some tasty words:
hypocrites
serpents
blind guides
"morons" (fools)
told them they were teaching "children of hell"
Not here to say that love wasn't His central focus but Jesus also knew when to draw the line. Sin is sin. He went right to the heart of the matter.
Note in Mark 1:24 that the demons said "Leave us alone." They wanted nothing to do with the truth but yet, they knew exactly who He was.
Sin separates you from God. This needs to be addressed for people to draw near to God. That's why the law was given, for people to understand what sin was and why God hates it.
NOTE also that they did not know Jesus, even when the scrolls pointed the Messiah right to Jesus. Their eyes were blinded.
If the Truth shall set you free, what will you be free from? First, you need to know what you are being in bondage by before you understand the need for freedom.

In all religions, not just Christianity, people like the cafeteria style approach of picking and choosing what they like as far as following Gods word. It is hard because of our human nature, being distracted (tempted) by our desires to do what we ought to do (Gods will) compared to what we want to do. Some, not all Christians miss the mark when if comes following God. This can be said of all religions. But they are trying. If you look long and hard at anyone, not just Christians, you will see this same problem. God gave us free will to choose, and allot of times we choose what is not right. No one ever said following God would make you automatically perfect, or that it will be easy. Yes, there are some hypocrites that use their religion to make them look good. Pray for them. The rest of will struggle, fail, and keep trying until this earthly journey is over. Good bless you, take care.

It is hard to be a Christian... I have to ask for help all the time.. from God, via prayer etc...
I know what you mean.. most of the people in the town I now live in say "I AM A CHRISTIAN!!!!!" and they are ... the furthest from it.....
I need to be better...and only God and the work of the Holy Spirit can help...
Also because we are SINNERS.. in thought or deed or what we say.. or offend someone etc... that is why so many are NOT CHRIST LIKE..
good ?? : )
